Yes, WGC FC will go down even if they stay out of the bottom 3 since their ground is not up to current standards.

Will very little money at the club, they will have an extended period in Div 1 me thinks.

They have a game set of players, but lacking in quality - must be difficult to motivate yourselves in such circumstances and make the effort to turn up for training - especially if you have a distance to travel.

Pop down on a Tue or Thur and you will see the reserves have 20 odd players turning up for training and just a handful for the firsts.

Why only a handful of firsts??

Will the manager stay if they go down?

Who is the manager?

Phil Reid

Never heard of him?

Whats his background?

Is he staying for next season or just filling in?

I know nothing about him either, he was just on the team list I was sent through for Saturday's (aborted) Hertford v Welwyn programme. The coach is listed as Gary Allan, though I nothing about him either.

The WGC first team role is Phil Reid's first job as a manager I believe. He was recommended to the club by one of the senior players. He's been coaching at Hayes and Yeading. Bit of a baptism of fire to come to WGC but given they are/were a mess when he took over, he has nothing much to lose I suppose.

Gary Allen joined the coaching staff along with Paul Gurney during Paul Faulkners reign, and I believe he came from St Margs.

Never met him (that I know of?) but when I was at Wodson last season Gary Allen was tapping up some of our players telling them he was going to be the St Mags manager this season.....

The season just gets better and better for the City! 12 nil!

Will we be looking at another little manager merry go round?

I don't think the managers, players and the people off the pitch care really. They know they are going down this season no matter where they come in the league. So i guess its hard to go out every week and play. But should show some pride when playing still.

Anyone go to the game? How comes it was 12-nil?

I've never seen anything quite like it at this level! 'Only' 3-0 down at HT, but WGC only had 11 players and one of them was Gary Allen the 50 year old coach playing centre midfield!

And............Jessop, the first team GK was playing centre back!

You cannot make this up!

The 2nd half was a joke - players didn't care, the goalkeeper they had looked about 4 stone overweight and in fairness to him players around him had given up. The quality of the players on display wouldn't get into a Sunday morning kick about in the park!

The last 2 goals were penalties and after the 11th goal went in, one WGC player, Josh Dance, just took his shirt off and walked off the pitch straight into the dressing room.

At training on Tue and Thurs they only get 3 or 4 1st teamers turning up and the ressies get about 20!

I'm not sure where the club are going with this display and it seems in complete contrast to the Ressies and 'A' team who are both leading their respective leagues.

I find it strange that the club keep the manager they have if only 3 or 4 1st team players turn up to train how does the manager let the players get away with it......If they only had 11 players on saturday why not call up some players from the Ressies? But i do think with the ressies playing in a poor league does not help the 1st team out, the ressies really need to be playing at a higger level.

The club should look for a new manager who can get players in and is happy to be in Div 1 next season.

That sounds terrible...........its a shame a club like that is in such a state!

Who is the chairman down there now?

Just thought i would pop on and try and clear up some of the confusion. Phil obviously has his work cut out, the social side of the club, a few members aside dont actually care about the club....we played on sat with the bare 11, including myself playing at centre half instead of in goal as normal, we played 5 ressies and as stated one of our elder statesman ;-). We were missing 6 of the regular first team starters who were away and one injured.

The basic facts are that some of us do really care about the club, and its a sad state of affairs that we are in the position we are, but when our first 14 are not available we struggle as the club has nothing to offer or attract new players to it

It would be easy for us to withdraw however for the sake of football at this level and the game we are trying to keep going.

Phil is doing an excellent job with his limited resourses as are a few people within the club.

Sat was the lowest point of my career, but as the saying goes there really is only one way left to go

Cheers for your understanding fella,

He is looking to stay and build for next year, in this league or the one below.

We are trying to get the ground up to scratch, however pouring money into that takes away the possibility of improving the actual playing side.

We have to put sat down as a one off, and hopefully (sat apart), some of our recent results show that we are moving in the right direction

The pitch is shocking and needs work, the facilities are not great, the stands need doing as does adding turnstyles, but where do you start??

Hopefully after a week to look inside themselves we will come back stronger for whats happened and do our best to keep the club in a position where relegation is in the hands of the ground graders alone

Well good luck with it all.....you had a good result against st margs the other week.........and they said you guys had some good players.

I was at welwyn early part of last season and your right not much support off the field. No one seems to want to do anything like the ground, pitch ect.........

Think it would be a good idea to get the ressies back in the spartan reserve league..........which is a very good testing ground for young players coming through.

All the best
