Kingstonian vs MFC

Could have been 2-0 down in the first 10. Then we rallied and had chances ourselves. Clarke tortured their right back. Having said that, they missed two 6-yd sitters in the first half, a simple tap-in and a free header.

Towards the end we gave as good as we got. Last 10 mins besieged their goal and went close, particularly with Stubbs who forced the keeper into a good save. Left ourselves exposed at the back and crowd favourite Dean Lodge (got his own song) coolly rounded the keeper for 2-0.

After a nervous start we gave a good account of ourselves against one of the top teams (Duku/Trainor etc.).

Clarke excellent until came off. Ditto Joseph (came off injured). Cliff seemed to make a difference at the end. Wilson too. In fact, no duff performances. Well played the lads; could have got something from it. We won't go down. Playoffs though: probably not.

Their 'keeper was on form - says a lot for us as he got man of the match award.

Kingstonian played better in the first half and had 4 good chances scoring only 1.We had 2 good chances but could not convert. The second half was very dull with neither side looking like scoring until the last 15 when we pressurised but did not get the run of the ball in the box and their keeper made some good saves.

A couple of points. We won a corner in the last minute and had 9 men in the box with Lacy on the half way line to deal with any breakaway. As good as he has been this season his best qualities are not his tackling or his pace.so why was he left as last man.As it happens he was beaten in the tackle and didn't have the pace to catch the guy who ran half the length of the pitch to score a goal that may well be decisive at the end of the season. These sort of things should be sorted before the match.

Secondly their right back couldn't tackle, couldn't turn and had no pace,he was beaten every time by Clark so I thought we should have concentrated on using our left wing more where we were more dangerous.

Last week at Horsham we played some really good football and deserved to win although it has to be said that Horsham were not that good. This week there was none of that flowing football, which was disappointing although after saying that we did deserve a draw today against a better team than last week and when we were not playing particularly well.

Hopefully the positive from that is that if we can get our passing game back then there are matches to be won because apart from Dartford their is not much between any team in this division.

Very disappointing yesterday, another Jekyll and Hyde performance. Sometimes we were great and other times we were bloody awful. MB is right when he said we got muscled off the ball. Too many lame tackles and a couple of times players bottled out, and too many tiomes players got the ball and just kicked it without looking. No mention of the two virtually open goals that we missed, one in each half.

I said last season that we were too good to go down but as the season progressed it shows that we wern't. I'm afraid to say that I think we are in the same position this season and although I think MB is the right manager, the players he is working with are just not good enough. He states that we have 12 home games left against 8 away, but we've been bloody awful at home, so wheres the advantage. Its certainly not fortress Hartsdown that we have had the luxury of in the past.

We were desperately lacking a natural goal scorer yesterday and although their keeper had a cracker, he should have been well beaten on at least two occasions. For the first 25 minutes of the second half we were terrible, and then all of a sudden we woke up played football, and took the game to them. However once again its no good playing well for the last quarter when you are behind.

Spot on Steve.

I wonder why those open goals have not been mentioned for the first miss the goalkeeper saved the embrrassement of the shot nearly hitting the corner flag as it landed in his hands. As for the second I think that was wrong shot selection.

We play like vegetarians sometimes so can we not give them a bit of good honest SCOTCH BEEF before a game so that we can have Jim Holton & Joe Jordan out there.

Or preferably ANDONI GOIKOETXEA no nobody got past him ask Maradona.
