Got what we deserved imo.

We went 2 up, looked good with the second well worked and taken and it looked like the Ashford nightmare might finally have been over. Then we stopped playing and it was only a matter of time before they got back in it.

It was no surprise that they got the winner and no shock it was at the death either given the umpteen number of injury time goals we've conceded this season.

Possession was given up away for too easily and the passing was poor. There were a couple of odd substitutions made too.

A few players need to up their work rate if we're to get anything out of Dartford on Tuesday.

I agree 100% with Sticks

We were by far the better of the two teams and the score early on proved that, But for some reason instead of continuing to attack and get more goals we decided to defend our lead & the rest as they say is history.

As soon as we stopped attacking, They came back and punished us.

I did feel sorry for the lads when the late goal went in but that's what happens when you give the oppo an inch they will take a mile.

I personally felt the wrong striker was taken off and most of the lad's & Ladies behind the goal seemed to agree.

2 nil and we F@cked it up :zornig:

I find both the above posts quite reasonable in their temper and their suggestions. I on the other hand am bloody well angry and p*ssed off with it. If anyone wanted to have a visual reason why our support is dwindling, they had it yesterday afternoon at Ashford (Mx).

The only players I felt sorry for were the players which did work hard and applied themselves...those that didn't should look to themselves...and it wasn't for the first time those players showed bugger all in some or all departments this season, so the question is, "why do we persist in playing them?". This seasons Billericay Mark II is looking no better than this seasons Billericay Mark I in 2010. We gave the ball away. our passing was woefull, our midfield didn't hardly tackle, our front two were poor beyond belief and there was little or no leadership on the pitch that I could see.

The facts are that, this year, we have played five, won one, drawn two and lost two, a total of 5 points from 15 and that at present IMO, is relegation form. We are half way through our league fixtures now, we have squandered most of our games in hand tally and for one reason or another (it's not just the players on the park that have mucked this up), we have wasted golden opportunities to drag ourselves out of the relegation zone this year.

Some may say, we still have plenty of the season to play...well that is true but the problem is that IF we leave it until the 11th hour, it may be too late to save the club from going down...11th hour effort does not always come good. We need to pull ourselves up now...

One last note about the game. Congratulations to Ashford who showed commitment, effort and aplication to take all three points. They deserved them.

Nightmare at Ashford part III

In fairness in recent weeks it has been difficult to fault the players' attitude and committment but yesterday demonstrated a complete lack of belief and the last minute defeat was almost kind of predictable.

I always felt that January would be a key month for us and althouh the weather has changed the look of the fixtures somewhat, it's a poor return with 5 points from 15.

Perhaps we are just not very good - but I'm not convinced that is the case. As the pressure increases the number of apparent mistakes is growing - I still think we'll avoid relegation by hook or by crook but I am struggling to see many indicators that this is the right way forward in the medium term.

Bit of a kick in the gonads for you yesterday. But all teams loose with last gasp winners. We got done at Tonbridge with a penalty in injury time after a shot hit our players arm from 2 yards!

Yesterday you caught us cold, the first goal was schoolboy defending from the throw without any attempt to clear it. Your second was a well worked flowing move with a great header to finish it. Then we woke up and started to play a bit.

As for your players giving the ball away, i think both sides were guilty of that but it was a bone hard pitch and you should take that into account. Its easy for me to say after a win, but i think your players and fans are a decent bunch and play the game in the right spirit. I thought your keeper was poor, possibly a bad day at the office, but constantly kicking the ball out from goalkicks and for the two shots with our winner he doesnt move a muscle! Your number 10 had a good game and caused us problems. We often get "how can we loose to the likes of Ashford" when teams are picking through the bones of a game.

We are a side that are very hard to beat, we dont tend to get the respect we often deserve because of our small ground, small attendances and limited budget. We do the best with what we have and enjoy crossing swords with the likes of yourselves. All the best.

Might stick in the throat but heres the winner and the keeper stuck ridgid.

Perhaps I am being too harsh? I don't know but for those supporters that travelled yesterday I thought they were short changed. We started brightly but got a nose bleed after going two up. I don't exect to win every game but I don't expect us to surrender a 2 goal lead the way we did.

A week ago we played Hastings off the part in some respects but we prove a point in one game and then appear to forget in the next couple. I expect us to try and prove a point when we entertain Dartford this Tuesday but doing it for one game is not enough...we have to be consistant over the season and that is what has been lacking.

Yep, I think we got what we deserved yesterday. Bottom line is if you don't defend for the full game, you can get punished. Once again, none of our strikers actually scored, I still think we need strikers, and I shouldnt be saying that after 20 games!! We go 2-0 up and let it slip against an average team but they took advantage of our weakness - going down the right. Tight defence? Definately didn't look like it yesterday!!! League tables don't lie, no matter how many games we have got in hand, we have to win them first, I think the league this season is very average, to be where we are shows how bad we have been. We need to improve, if we can play like we did against Hastings for most games, we would be ok, but if we play like we did yesterday in the second half, we are in trouble.

The winner didn't come as a surprise and we can have no complaints, Ashford had more desire and were simply the better side. Our passing at times was absymal, as it has been on numerous occasions this season. Sometimes we cannot even get the basics right. Yet when we do get the ball down and play, we show what we can do, ala, the second goal. A manager is always held accountable for his teams results and performances, five league wins out of 21 games is just not good enough. I feel for the likes of Pond, Kersey and Wild, three of our more consistent performers and deserving of better from thier team-mates.

I don't know what we are anymore, sometimes a side capable of better things (v C*****) and sometimes looking like relegation fodder (Horsham). I do know that we are a team in the relegation zone and we are a club losing support seemingly on a weekly basis. Watching Billericay has frankly become dull. Somebody breath a bit of [censored] excitement back into this football club. The management and players have an opportunity to make a start on that on Tuesday by going out and ripping Dartford up. Have a go at 'em and give us something to shout about.

I'd take a dreary 1-0 win tho!

maybe its time to bring back some of the players out on loan - they couldn't do any worse!!

Hmmmm, there you Brucie! I wondered when you would tip toe into the woods.

Not all would improve the team or results if asked to return?

How's your lad doing? ......

Brucie, The Wolf knows all...

I think it's a worry that even our loyal supporters are now beginning to lose heart. I know that some may say support is fickle but there some of us out there that will support the club come what may but even that is being tested. Fair enough, we get a couple of good results and every one is back up but there are those who, based on the experience of this season, that will still look to the road ahead and see what may be there to trip us up.

Having supported this club for years, there are people, ordinary supporters who have been with this club for years, that I have come to associate with the club that have drifted away over the past couple of seasons...and this season, there have been more familiar faces that after the promise at the beginning of the season, have drifted away. When that happens, people find other things to do with their time and it's a lot harder to get them back.

I suppose this season is what some may call a transitional season...there has been a lot of the "old" of the past couple of seasons that has been outed. In some cases, that may not have been a bad thing but a wholesale change has certainly been hard to take when the "new" has performed without any real consistancy. People are creatures of habit and like the familiar, especially when times get hard. Although I would say things could be harder (just read the Non league News for clubs that are struggling financially), it's all relative to the circumstances. It's results which win people round and if we can put a run together, I am sure some that have drifted away will come back...but not all.

We appear to be struggling with our identity at the moment. For me, it certainly doesn't feel like the same club as it did a couple of seasons ago. Perhaps the "We" (and I mean the collective "We") are not doing enough behind the scenes...I don't know....or perhaps those that those that "do the do" behind the scenes needs an injection of new blood? There is only so much the "few" can do. This has always been a friendly club. Managers, players and supporters have always mixed. From where I stand, that doesn't happen as much. Even when times were bad last season, people still went up to speak to players like jamie Drmer and Matt Game...even Leon. Perhaps we require a supporters / players forum to get both parties to know each other to get back that spirit of "one" club? It's an idea but I wonder if, for some, we have gone too far down the road of apathy.

Anyway, lets all get behind the players for tomorrow evening. It will be a tough game and I believe all of us will be required to "man the barracades", players and supporters...and if we do, who knows....We may well pull of a shock. We're a great club when the odds are stacked against us.

Spot on Ryan......I feel that your comments are the sentiments of many of those supporters who pay their entrance fee week after week expecting, at least, to see an entertaining match win, lose or draw (preferably a win of course.)

Patience is wearing thin!

I have not lost faith.

If you can recall a few seasons back on a couple of occassions we went into the Half-Time break 2-0 down (one of them games may have been at home to Heybridge) and we ran out 3-2 victors at the final whistle. So for these teams it happened to when we played them would have moaned and groaned for a few days, then they would dust themselves off get over it, forget about it and for sure they would be getting fired up for their next game.

Complaints of our declining support is a problem. I do so agree that new plans of building this clubs support up will have to be thought about. Though my nephew has been rounding up many of his friends recently and is trying to get them all back and even some new faces supporting the club. I for one want as many people watching the blues not just at home though, but also away. I must hold my hands up for not being at many away games, however i adore this club and will be making a greater effort to go to as many of the away games as possible. New Lodge is a fantastic stadium which i feel in a way a bit disheartened when i see some sections of the stadium empty the far side opposite the dugouts for example. There are so many empty chairs/rows left very bare. WE need to change this. Hopefully this will begin to change tomorrow night, as Dartford have to my knowledge maybe a 300 strong following away crowd so hopefully we could get over 700 in tomorrow evening.

TELL YOUR FAMILY, TELL YOUR FRIENDS, TELL EVERY STRANGER YOU WALK PAST DOWN THE STREET. YOUR CLUB NEEDS YOU!

The stronger the fan base/support the stronger the CLUB, OUR CLUB.

As Barack Obama once said "It's time for change" the word CHANGE, not the management, not the players. THE SUPPORTERS? That's what has to change we need to change supporters minds about supporting the club through good and bad times, We need to build this club to what it was 3 or 4 seasons ago. STRONGER!
