What as happened to.........

this forum. Why are people not using it any more. What has happened to the discussions?

Is it that people get to personal, to involved, fed up of outsiders stirring or just plain old lost interest ?

Is it that the down turn in the clubs fortunes have taken there toll on our enthusiasm ?

Is it the journey years at Dover and Ashford ? the teams resignation from the Conference National?

The euphoria of returning to Hartsdown only to be tempered by the performances on the field in that season?

the ongoing tax problem( now sorted)? missing out on promotion in the Trott years.

The expectation of the Terry Yorath, Neville Southall era?

Or is it as simple as the changes to the web site putting people off,

What is the problem?

Looking at the Club know, I see we are in financial straights, who isn't?

The difference being we know have a great commercial director/manager in "Cliff Egan" and a steady accountant in the guise of "Rocking Richard Piper" on board, as tight as things are at the moment I believe we will see a different club next season.

The Goalden Gate lottery is starting to grow, this so far has brought in £17,0000 to the club this season through the Margate Independent Supporters Association and is growing month by month.

Steve (margate shot) came up with the great idea of we forum users clubbing together to sponsor players, ( i believe we have enough to sponsor 3 possible 4),

We have a race night on the 6Th of March please attend if possible. Mark Butler is going to be there and I am sure he will be only to willing to answer your questions as well as enjoy the evening. If you cannot be their then sponsor a Race ( only £20 and you get your or your firms name on the race card also on a cup or plate in your name to be given to the winning owner) or sponsor a horse(£5 each) and win a cash prize when your horse wins.

If you have any practical ideas for future fund raising, please post them.

Lets have a discussion.

Lets make a difference both on here and at the Club.

Lets get things moving again. onwards and upwards together.

Goood post BB but I can't say that I had noticed the lack of posts. One theory that I have is that there has been less discussion because the club have been giving us regular news updates. Because of this there has been less people coming on here asking what is going and adding their own opinions and what they have heard on the old rumour mill. With us being informed more often, has anybody else noticed that there has been a distinct lack of posts from across the island from the redside, particularly from one certain person, who was on here stirring things up on a daily basis.

I do agree that it would be good to have a better response to the fundraing events. Perhaps one way would be to advertise the events outside the football club. What about taking out an advert in the local, would it be finacially viable. Do we still have the posters for home games. If we do, could we run off some posters for the racing night and put them in the same locations.

With the quizzes could we advertise them better. I believe there are quiz teams who play on a regular basis and move around the clubs and pubs. Perhaps we could entice them with a larger prize. The quiz nights have always been very cheap for what you get considering you get food as well. I know this is done to attract more people but is it worth putting a few more quid in the pot to entice people in.

Well cant speak for that person Margateshot, i do think the main reason we on the redside dont post much now on your forum at the mo, is the fact we one league lower than you,... so our interests in you, is not that great, but we still talk about on our forum still,.. hopefully if we get promoted back to the premiership ;) (and you guys stay there which i know you will ) the debates will start again,.... as for other reasons , we (like you) have had lack of games in the last month, so nothing really to talk about apart from the weather-(yes our forum is fairly quite two

Think that SIXTYisFIFTY has hit it on the head.- there's just so long between the games at the moment (& the weather for the games we do get is soooo cold that it's hard to break the habit of snuggling around a roaring fire to get out & see a match !!

Disgust at the money the board threw at Trott during his era, over moderation of the forum, plus life outside of Margate football club has become very time consuming through my own choice.

I for one had great difficulty getting onto the revised forum, probably because of my computer illiteracy, cant say I have missed the posts form that Ramsgate idiot, but all is a bit stable at the moment, apparently, we need some controversy and of course a few games.

That may be so Gate4the Win but that was two years ago. We now have a more stable board and a better financial footing so lets forget then and concentrate now and get behind the team.

Sorry guys, been away for a bit, so not posting as much. Still watching the forum though!

As a matter of interest, does the annoying Ramsgate supporter still come on here? Perhaps he could tell us how they got on today, and we could have a chat about that maybe?

Yes, it appears that Twaterson still insists on infesting the forum, the tommy tanker that he is. He is the reason a lot of people can't be bothered to post anymore

As i see it, we are in a catch 22 situation. Keith, Cliff , Richard and Colin are working dammed hard to keep the club together along with support from the "Misa" committee and the sterling work that "JO" puts into the office," Wellsie" and "Steve Ball" are working miracles with the web site and programme. The catch 22 comes in the form of diminishing crowds = diminishing gate receipts= lack of funds for the manager to pursue the players he wants, we need.

As for Welsh Bobs comment: "It's because we are sh!t and people don't want to follow a team that spend all season in the relegation zone". everyone has his or her views. Personally though some results have not gone for us, I have been entertained by some dammed good football. I agree we are short on the field, we are desperate for a big strong striker and a no nonsense [b"]Billy Edwards / Trotty "[/b]type of half back(Trotty may not have been as quick as he used to be but how many headers got past him).

I thought I had put up a topic that would generate more debate than it as, instead it degenerated into a conversation about a foreign son of a pregnant Icelandic fish twatterson from the dark side of the Island.

Ah well perhaps that's how it is.

i believe most are just pi--ed off with 5 years of downward motion and 5 years of lies about the development .we have gone from a good conference side to a very poor ryman side which looks to me like relegation bound again and people just lose interest.if we could put a decent run together fans would return very quickly.
