Can we have our name back please????

There has been some talk over the past year or so about changing our name back to Hornchurch FC (our spiritual name)

On tuesday,many of us in the Eastside were talking and pretty much all agreed to a friendly campaign to change the name back.

The name AFC Hornchurch for me is only in use because of the problems we have had in the last 5 years and although under the name AFC we have had our most succesful period on the pitch it was nethertheless because of the problems we encountered 2004/05.

I know the view on the Eastside is not the view of everyone neccesarily but i believe for the memory of such legends like Jim Bradshaw and Harry it would be a nice touch to go back to the name that they both loved.

What are your views

The old name was Upminster Wanderers.

No dagger,that was the original name.The old name which 99% of the fans remember is Hornchurch FC,i believe this to have been our name for more time than any other name in our history

There is a time limit of a set number of years before a club can return to a previous name I believe.

 

And no, I have no idea of that length of time.

I think it was red and white hoops.

Colours were blue and white quarters.

 

The change strip was red and white stripes, and black shorts and this was purchased in 1949, with clothing coupons from the F.A. The committee and players made up the balance.

 

In 1950 the red and white stripes became the first strip, with the blue and white quarters becoming the change strip.

 

On the subject of names, UPMINSTER WANDERERS was the original name, and this was changed to UPMINSTER when they joined the Spartan League in 1938.
