HI JJ

SO HOW IS IT NOW IT'S BEEN PASSED FOR PLAYING ?

I SEE IT WAS THE ONLY GAME THAT EVENING WHICH WAS ABANDONED BECAUSE OF FROZEN CONDITIONS WAS THE REF RIGHT TO DO SO ?

The ressies played on it on Saturday so no tuesday wasnt the first game since getting the all clear.

Caught TB off the pitch and i've had a nasty itchyness around the inner leg area and a stinging sensation when i pee but it think that may be related to something else!!

Pitch was fine but a little crisp at the start of the match and not a lot worse at half time but he decided to call it off. Ref said to me at the start of the match that he would assess it at half time. Played on far worse in July pre season and in August. Pitches in July and August are always rock hard and far more dangerous than tuesday night. My studs were still going in to the mud.Just have to get it back on for Tuesday night. Hopefully a bigger crowd as the 1st team are not playing.

THANKS JJ, I UNDERSTAND WHAT YOU MEAN ABOUT HARD PITCHES AT THAT TIME OF YEAR.................REF'S EH ! (KEY KROONER !)

THE TROUBLE YOU MAY HAVE JJ IS IF ALDERSHOT 1ST TEAM DON'T HAVE A GAME, PERHAPS THEY MAY PUT OUT A STRONGER AND MORE FRINGE PLAYERS, BUT HOPEFULLY YOU'RE RIGHT, A BIGGER CROWD TO BOOT - GOOD LUCK

Typical footballer.

On a hard pitch in August you are able to stop.

On a hard frozen pitch you are unable to stop therefore more likely to injury people/yourself as you have no control.

Damned if we do and damned if we dont.

Scared of treating players as grown ups and letting them make their own decisions. If both teams are willing to play then why shouldn't they? It's not the ref's responsibility if a player injures themselves unless that injury was caused by an error in law.

Volenti non fit injuria is the legal phrase you're looking for.

I hasten to add I'm not a lawyer and my legal advice is worth what you've paid for it - nothing! :bootyshake:

A valid point possibly VP but both clubs wanting to play quickly changes 10 minutes into a match when one side is 2 down. I watched a game earlier this season. Pitch was iffy but the ref decided to play and both sides were happy with that. 25 minutes is one of the sides had a player sent off. For the rest of the half the captain of that team was in the officials ear about the pitch being unplayable. They then scored about 10 minutes into the 2nd half when they took the lead !!!!

So Ref plays as both sides want too. One team gets battered 5-0 and it is the Refs fault as the ground was never fit. Like I say damned if you do and damned if you don't.

Smudgey you do like a generalisation don't you. Even witness a player headbutt another player ? I am guessing so in all years of watching so I presume you now believe that every player does it.

You're right there fella.

I was thinking about doing as they do in cricket with bad light by offering the captains the pitch so to speak but of course any losing side will usually request to come off.

Maybe getting them to sign a declaration before the game and again at half time to say they're happy then, if anyone does kick up a fuss, you can just point at them and laugh.

And then of course someone has to consider wear and tear to the pitch. It's all very well players keep on wanting to play in heavy rain and such like but, as has been proved at both Bedfont and Bedfont Sports this season, that can put the pitch out of action for a couple of weeks.

Nothing's ever easy is it?
