very good performance tonight, after going a goal down we drew level with a superb free kick from Durrant, had another 3 good efforts saved and then with only their 3rd attack Sawbo were given a penalty (correctly) which Mann saved diving to his left.

 

In the 2nd half it was all Stansted further goals came from Murray (2) and Durrant with his 2nd.

 

The Sawbo keeper was also taken off with a broken nose after being kicked in the head by one of his defenders.

 

Couple more chances but could not get the 5th.

Southend Manor won 5-3 on pens after score was 1-1 90 mins and aet. Apparently good game with Manor edging it with the better chances and probably deserved the win......

I don't think either team deserved to lose, or more accurately, done enough to deserve the win, after normal or extra time at The Hive. Southend Manor created more chances, but Anthony Hughes didn't have to make any outstanding saves. The Bees, though, had the more clear-cut, with Adam Seal making a great save and another opportunity going begging when clean through.

 

A lot of us thought extra time might not be played, mind, because the pitch had hardened and frosted over completely.

I don't think either team deserved to lose, or more accurately, done enough to deserve the win, after normal or extra time at The Hive. Southend Manor created more chances, but Anthony Hughes didn't have to make any outstanding saves. Know it all that is a poor comment toss of a coin! pens aint a lottery you take good pens you win, it takes bottle and skill with some luck to score pens our great gk to save them what skill is there in a toss of a coin!

 

Pitch was terrible icey and so so uneven so never going to be great game for spectators. Basildon shaded the first half and Manor better side 2nd half and extra time. Manor had stone wall pen turned down with few mins left of et complete bottle job by ref and lino!
