We have some seriously good players in our sqaud at the moment, Fagan, Chennells and Bruce are currently looking good and have performd consistently for us this year and have shone in the team but for me Jake Parsons is just off the planet. He is making defences look stupid, ripping through two or three players with ease and delivering when it counts.

Gazza, Best, Rooney, you boys would take one hell of a beating is you were compared to this footballing maestro, so come on Capello, he's the answer, if you want to win the world cup and can't quite figure out what's missing pop down to Stag meadow Saturday and see the start of a revolution

Nobody is better than Chris Cahill. Sometimes.

 

Meanwhile, outside Looking Glass Land [ahem] ... No one in the squad now is looking weak, at all. We don't really have any spots where you'd point and say 'he's being beaten, he's not doing a job, he's only just coping...' - we just don't. There's no one I'd drop and the subs also seem good enough to start if it wasn't for how fine the first choices are!

 

Still I'd agree, even above those three (and Seeds and Ryan also) Jake really does shine this year. First time I saw him was coming on as a sub a few years back, I think in the Lane days, and he looked like another player with potential but not much actual... well, now he's gone way beyond the potential showed then. Even (especially?) on the surfaces we've had over the last few months, opposing defence & left wingers just haven't been able to cope - he's going past two or three players most times and either putting in such superb crosses or firing in shots, and keeping them guessing throughout. And there's more than a few stepovers and nutmegs appearing and working, too... that's the mark of a player with both skill and form plus confidence to spare.

But isn't the extra icing how teams daren't put two markers on him? Because if they do, either Chenns is free to run on to a through pass (90% = goal) or Victor/Nathan is freed (again high%= goal) or Joe is free to run in and put a perfect cross through (80%) or shoot himself (20%...) and so on... and that's if Jake doesn't take them both on himself and beat them anyway, which he's done many times...

 

I don't recall any year, including when we knew we had promotion, when I've looked forward to or enjoyed the watching of matches so much.

I almost wish I had a hangover rather than this bl**dy cold, though. I'd have deserved it and at least it would be gone by now.
