A critical result for us today and a well deserved three points.

All eyes pre-match were on the likely formation and personnel and it was encouraging to see that the management were big enough to make the changes that they did. There s no doubt that having Green, Hall and Slatter all back in contention improved the look of the side and we went out looking a well-balanced outfit.

Bill's on a hot streak so it was a shame to see him go off injured but good to see Simon get on the scoresheet. We restricted Hastings to scraps and I thought were well worth the points.

Unusual to see a sub subbed but again I thought the management's decision was completely justified.

A win on Tuesday could see us out of the bottom four and I'm sure that would be a massive boost to everyone.

Great result today. Well done.

Come on you Blues!!

Really pleasing display. A deserved win, two well taken goals (especially the second) and a cleansheet.

The midfield quartet is excellent and fingers crossed they stay fit as they could be the key to getting out (and staying out) the drop zone imo.

Shame the other sides at the foot of the table picked up points too, but hopefully Tuesday night will see another three points picked up.

Must agree that the midfield were the business today and thanks to their graft and guile - even on a heavy pitch - the team functioned much better than Tuesday.

Thought Hastings showed potential on occasions and passed the ball well at times but credit to our players that any efforts towards Walks was generally nondescript. Will add that their No.2 can consider himself a lucky chap as, IMO, he deserved a second yellow but the ref didn't have the bottle as it was still so early in the game.249.gif

Good to see Macca back in the groove and credit to the management for taking the opportunity to learn from the very obvious mistakes of Tuesday and ditching 4-3-3.

No reason why we cannot gain something positive from Bridge Road on Tuesday but we really do need to get out of the bottom four before too much longer as no matter how good we think (and know) we can be, the table does not lie.

good game, great to get another win, impressive performance from all the team, thought Bricknell and Thomas took their goals well.

Hastings are playing well this season and not an easy team to beat, we can now go on and do the same against all other teams. :brille008:

we need to turn our games in hand into points, we'll be out of trouble soon.........

One of the most comfortable wins I have seen for a while at the Lodge. To me it was very clear that Macca needs to be our regular right back and 4-4-2 is our best formation by far. I hope Billy is okay as it was very refreshing to see the pace and work ethic of both he and Simon. If only we hadn't wasted the points on Tuesday. Looking at the league table I think it it is going to be a very tight end to the season with anyone from Maidstone down potentially in the mire. Lets hope we can keep this squad of players together for next season.

A much better performance from Tuesday, with some much better team selections and formation which led to getting a deserved 3 points and closing the gap to safety. The whole team put in great effort, especially Pondy, he was superb. Hopefully we can carry on like this but it will be a tough game on Tuesday. Another goal for Bricknell who is on fire so I hope he is ok, and Simon took his goal very well in a breath-taking moment.

It is also pleasing to see that our discipline has got a lot better.

From the Hastings forum

A very poor game, against a very poor side on a very poor pitch (you'd see better tomorrow morning down bulverhythe)

Think 0-0 would've been about right, they only created two chances on the counter which they scored (both one on ones) most the other 90 minutes we had possession but failed to create barely anything worth writing about, a couple of shots here and there a penalty shout turned down and thats it....it improved when Rambo came on and we camped in their half for the final 20 minutes when they resulted to just constantly clearing their lines not worrying where the ball went aslong as it was away from their back line. But it showed with the keepers kits, Williams' kit was literally clean don't think they'll have to wash it...but their keepers had quite abit of mud on and considering the pitch was awfully muddy that just proves how much goalmouth action there really was.

Russell Eldridge had an off game, Harry Pell looked good but showed that he is still inexperienced but i'm sure he'll get used to this level quite quickly i hope because he looks a very good prospect. Lee Carey had a quite dencent game but why does Sam get put on the right wing in the final 20 minutes? I can't understand that!! Adrian Stone did well up top but with a bustly centre half breathing down his neck he didn't get much chance.

Just have to move on quickly and hope we perform better at Wealdstone on Tuesday.

I think someone should tell him that our keeper was muddy because he did his job and kept a clean sheet...their keeper on the other hand didn't. Laugh at this...I split my sides.

Was a very good performance and clean sheet. Thought Pond was outstanding and was everywhere. Really good team performance against a very big side. Now we have to start being consistent as we have the team who can beat anyone in this league - Keep it going this time lads !

Good match report..

so Billy B out for ten days ?, and Russell Malton unwell (talking to him after the game he said he had chest/breathing problems), limits the choices for Hornchurch !!!!
