Horsham updates

I would have taken a point if offered at start game, but somehow 3-3 does not seem as good as 0-0 or 1-1.

This report from Horsham local paper seems to imply we were by far the better side;but hopefully one or two forum regulars went to the game and can give their unbiased opinions.

Pretty much dominated the game from start to finish; I don't think even Horsham would have begrudged us the three points.... we were by far the better team. Played some lovely football and created a number of chances. Just a few sloppy moments at the back, and virtually everyone was punished with a goal. But I certainly would have taken a point before the game, so I feel it was a good result. Having said that, slightly disappointing to play so well and not come away with the win.

Wilson was superb today - by far the best I have seen him play in a long long time (arguably his finest performance in a Margate shirt). He kept finding space, and his passing and deliveries were fantastic... he pretty much ran the game for us. Clarke was yet again brilliant on the left wing - his running at defenders, his tackling, and he showed also how good he is in the air with a thumping header from a fine corner by Wayne for our second goal.

We showed great resilience to keep fighting until the end, and this team really does not seem to know when it is beaten. We seem to be turning into a team which is hard to beat - a very encouraging sign. Well done boys - a fine performance and a very good point.

Thanks for that Mike & a BIG WELL DONE to Wayne. Now for consistency. Good to see him at last coming good.Last week he was criticised by me but this week he gets my congratulations & again a VERY BIG WELL DONE Wayne.

Hats off to all the lads yesterday. They were terrific. Really enjoyable game, end to end stuff for the most part. MB clearly set us up similar to Maidstone away. Hard-working and counter attacking, and we've adapted well to it. Now let's hope we start improving our performances at home.

Wayne was really on his game. I kept saying it's the best I've seen him play. Fair play to him, terrific passing and got stuck in. Perfect free-kick for the goal and great ball for our second (nice move by the way).

Ben was once again very good. Impressed with the leadership qualities of Groombridge for such a young lad at centre back. Not afraid to direct his team mates. Also Dan Stubbs did not stop working out there. Major contribution from him.

MB touched on it in his post-match interview. The lads were noticeably fired up. I hope we see that again next time. Plenty of communication, people putting themselves about and great football.

Is it just coincidence that a good performance coincided with Wilson and Stubbs making what i think is their first league start together under MB ?

I've said it on a few occasions that Wayne and Dan Stubbs seem to work well together and bring out the best in each other and complement each others games.

A case of the sum of the whole being greater than the individual parts ,which is what you seek in a team game ,and from coaching

Sounds like a good game yesterday, shame we couldnt convert it into 3pts, but I'm sure it will come if the performances stay the same, Stubbs and Wilson have played together in 6 out of 9 league games under MB (not disagreeing that they dont play well together just saying)
