Sad News

this is seriously sad news. I interviewed Brian last year or the year before for the programme, you would not meet a nicer guy and he had a genuine love for the club. It is perhaps apt that right now so many people are discussing on another thread the best ever Windsor team, and a number of the players mentioned were brought to the club by Brian back in the late 70s. Really sad news and I personally would like to pass my best wishes on to his family. A 100% true Royalist.

I would like to add to the comments put on by Gegg, as my formative years were around the team that Brian built I found him to be very friendly and open and a true club man, always happy to chat and always had time for the fans. A genuine loss and a thoroughly nice man.

My thoughts and best wishes go out to his family.

Agree with Geggy and fuzzy.

Brian will be remembered with great respect and affection by those supporters privileged enough to remember the Athenian days.

My sincere condolences to Brian's family.

I regret to announce that I have just been informed that former manager Brian Caterer passed away earlier today.

Our thoughts are with Brian's family at this time.

My condolences to Brian's family. He really was a very good manager.

Over the last 32 years I got to know Brian very well and although he spent time with Maidenhead and Woking I always felt his true love was Windsor & Eton. 3 spells as manager and not always given the best treatment but was a regular watcher of the Royalists even when not involved. Many a time he would turn up on a weekday in the works van with his mate Mick for a brew and a bit of gossip and always [more importantly] a laugh.

Brian and his brother-in-law Colin Lippiat were arguably the most successful management team we've ever had at Windsor and in many respects put us into the eyes of the nation with their fantastic cup runs which eventually led us to the upper echelons of semi-pro football so for that alone we owe a great deal of thanks.

Not only a true Royalist but a true gentleman as well who would do anything for anyone if he could.

Rest in Peace mate, the football world has lost an unsung hero!
