I must admit I'm amazed, the 1st 'game' of the season albeit a pre-season friendly and no one's got anything to say.

 

Any views on the performances of the 3 new signings, Mark G, Matt G and Nic M ? (obviously we can't include Graeme T.) What about Shrek, Steve Castle and the rest in midfield, what about Chris Seeby in what was really his first game ? What about Migsy playing at centre half.

 

We've had nothing to talk about for weeks. Nothing to say chaps, I don't believe it.

It was interesting to see Steve Castle and Shrek wearing the colours so, presumably, they intend to play this season. Plenty of midfield players, then. Jon Challinor is to return from the States next week, it seems. Any news of Greg Deacon? Nothing in the matchday programme about Craig, Gary Crawshaw or Martin Young but, perhaps, the web-site and that chap who ghost writes the Observer are right.

 

To me, Migsy at centre back is a courageous choice. In a certain light, he reminds me of Lawrence Fishburn. Much younger, of course. Migsy that is. Younger. Than Lawrence.

 

Oh, by the way. Sometimes a player comes to the reserves, and a new name then comes on to the web-site saying; "I'm an old mate of Patrick Lewis [say]. He was a great prospect when he was 9. Manchester United offered him a contract at £10,000 a week but he turned Ferguson down in order to concentrate on his studies. He scored 68 goals in 12 games for his school last year and he is a great prospect. How is he getting on down at your place? I would offer him a contract before Chelsea firm upo their interest."

Can't get too excited personally, HKS. It's only been nine weeks since the end of the Ryman. Only seven weeks since the FA Cup Final.

 

I don't feel as if I've had a break from it really. And after the way we collapsed second half of last season, it doesn't really feel like a new season just yet.

 

As mentioned in a thread on the General Forum, I shan't be bothering again until the Carshalton match. I find pre-season friendlies so bloody tiresome, anyway.

Good point AFF, although if you saw him I think that you'd be impressed. He doesn't seem to be the type of chap, remember he's an Aussie, to post on a web site seeking reassurance about how well he is, or isn't doing.

 

He looks a class act.

 

I think that the Web site mentions Craig, Gary and Martin. I could be wrong, however I think that we all know what's gone on there.

 

As for the Ginger Sex Case aka Greg D. He returned from holiday on Saturday and is looking forward to joining up with the rest of the squad on Tuesday.

I appreciate that your knowledge is limited, HKS, but Dennis Roach is an agent. Thast's a person appointed to act on behalf of a player to, initially, represent the player in negotiations with a club to try to obtain the best possible terms for his client. I don't follow the Real Madrid meesage board but I doubt whether SFX went on there pretending to be an old mate of Beckham and suggesting that the Spanish club make some enquiries but it does happen lower down the pyramid.

No, I didn't mean that the way Migsy plays reminds me of Lawrence Fishburn. [sigh.] I've never seen Lawrence play. Can't comment on his work-rate. I mean't the facial characteristics. Do I mean Lawrence Fishburn? The one in Matrix.

Strangely enough I know who Dennis Roach is and I know what an agents responsibilities are. My knowledge is indeed limited, but not to that extent. I'm sure that what you have described does happen further down the pyramid and possibly in other levels of the beautiful game, I was just making the observation that in this case I'd be surprised if this is what has occurred.

 

I think that Migsy is more like Beyonce Knowles than Lawrence Fishburn. Facial characteristics of course.

 

Was Lawrence Fishburn in Jurassic Park ? I've never managed to stay awake all the way through the Matrix.

I think 'show promise' is all I can say about them at this stage. They (MG/MG#2/NM) all had their moments but the Gills defence was too good to allow them to shine. Maybe we will get a better idea against R&D on Saturday. Good to see Oakesey looking happy and enjoying his football as well.

I thought Elsgood looked comfortable at left-back, too, Rob, and Seeby should be pleased, too, but far too soon to say. That friendly didn't really do anything for me, either.

 

Talking of look-a-likes, Graeme Tomlinson was pointed out to me in t'clubhouse and he doesn't look anything like that photograph on the web-site!!
