Man of the match tonight at Southchurch Park Arena were shared between the 14 hardy souls who paid, stayed and froze throughout the 90 minutes.

 

It was competitive, by no means dull, but both teams cancelled each other out so chances were at a premium. Pitch was in really good condition, which was a combination of the snow insulating it and nobody playing on it for weeks.

 

Stansted had what look like a cast iron penalty when their striker went through 1-on-1 with the goalie, rounded him just inside the area to leave an open goal, appeared to be tripped by him - which the linesman flagged for - only to be booked by the ref for simulation.

 

At the other end Richard Mann made a great save from a shot that flashed across the face of goal. And that was it really, apart from a niggly spell just before half time where 2 players from each side were booked.

 

Still frozen but it whiled away an evening.

Game was abandoned after 80 minutes after Canvey Island manager John Batch called his players off after a bad tackle from Basildon United central defender on the Canvey forward.

The forward was stretchered off and had to go to a local hospital.

With Canvey in a strong position in the league the manager did not want to pick up any more injuries in what was supposed to be a 'friendly' match

Southend Manor v Stansted was a game of two half, Stansted much the better side first half should of been in front at the break Manor much the better side 2nd half should have scored but for v good save. Ref was very poor for both sides.

They had a side out there that would have given a run for their money to any Grays,Chelmsford City or Thurrock first team side. We were under pressure from minute one and the lads stood up to the challenge against full time pros.Our keeper made some good saves,they had chances and we gave as good as we had got.They played 6 players that were on the bench or played last saturday(lewington,walsh,montgomery,tejan-sie,nurse,thomas)plus a centre half i think they have signed from Dorchester Town Gayle and the rest were all reserves,no sign of youth out there.They went about their business in the right manner and didn't underestimated us.Our back line had an 18 years-old one17-and 3 19 ones.To me the game highlighted the different between full time pros and part-time players.The annoying thing was their goal was a pony one: their forward poor shot took a slight deflection and went in!

Was in attendence at the Barking v Burnham game. Very entertaining game under the lights. Both had chances to win game, both keepers pulled off good saves and a few goal mouth scrambles at both ends.

Burnham got their goal 5 minutes from time after a great through pass from their central defender, Ashley Hawkins took the goal very well and Burnham then withstood the Barking onslaught for the next 5-8 minutes to secure 3 valuable points.

Good victory for Burnham, probably deserved on the chances created. Burnhams amazing 100% away record kept in tact.
