Got two out of 3, SFA and Coral very good, the first B side on 'Golden Retreiver' is excellent, both excellent purchases anyway, can't say that I've heard the inspirals effort.

Hmmm. Not sure about this.

 

At it's best, it's pretty good, almost like Bob Dylan or a Californian version of 1968/69-era The Stones.

 

Unfortunately, at it's worst, it's like a cross between The Counting Crows and Springsteen. <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

 

Quite similar to The Strokes too, who I'm not so keen on.

I would reccomend buying the Inspiral Carpets single, because it's delated after a week and you'll kick yourself when you finally hear it, although it does take a couple of listens it'll grow on you big time - It's a £1.99 (or 99p on vinyl) risk worth taking and I want to know somebody who is in the Top 40 <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />

Are they doing the 'release it for a week' thing, simply to up their chances of getting in the top 40? Isn't that a little bit childish?

 

On the subject of new music - I reckon the Longview album might be quite good, and that Libertines single has grown on me a bit since I last heard it. However I can't stand that single with the sampled electronic voice saying something about 'until I get my satisfaction' aaaahhhhh - it makes me turn off the radio every time. Does anyone know the one I mean?

Inspiral Carpets will not chart, in my humble opinion. Simple fact is, the song has been available on the Greatest Hits for the last two months, so the majority of fans will not bother.

 

Only hardcore fans who want the b-sides will buy it.

Zeal, that's what I said to Clint as well and he seemed to agree (re: the album), however he thinks it'll just scrape the Top 40 and I agree with him. Apparently it was single of the week on virgin last week. I think most fans would of had the singles album anyway and only the hardcore would of brought 'cool as...' anyway for the b-side and DVD, and they will also buy the single - You only need to but about 6 copies to get into the Top 40 these days anyway

 

EFM'L a lot of bands now do the delate thing, it doesn't mean you won't be able to buy it just that they won't put any more into the shops after the first week. I think you'll find a majority of artists that don't expect to sit in the Top 10 for weeks now do this.
