My 2010 List

Recommended Posts

Yeah I saw it,for some reason the Essex forum is one of the quieter forums, not too sure why but it may be that some Essex birders for whatever reason think they are too good for birdforum, you do get some stuck up so and so's birding in Essex and many are miserable Gits

It may be that not many people are aware of the forum. I wasn't aware of Bird Forum until recently and it took me a couple of weeks before I found the Essex sub-forum. Do you have your list onthe internet anywhere? I use BUBO Listing.

I only have it on here or in my written records that I keep.I also go on the yahoo sites, create a yahoo account,go to groups for birds and you can join different groups, you get very quick updates from other uses, the Essex one seems the busiest,I also use the uk one which I think is more friendly, there tends to be a lot of bickering among Essex birders, the uk site is. mailto:birdwatching_UK@yahoogroups.co.uk

Purple Sandpiper

Sandwich Tern

bird count = 134

Not bad so far for my first year. I hope to get a few more this Sunday, weather permitting, I'm going on a Thames barge trip up the Stour from Wivenhoe!

Next year I hope to see all those that I've stumbled across this year plus a good few more now I have a little more idea of what I'm doing.:frown:

230 will be a magnificent target to go for, I'll be watching your progress keenly!

Carry on the way you are going you could hit 160 this year,as you didn't start too late, would expect you to get over 140 with tomorrows adventure but wrap up warm

Jeez was it cold today. It was actually Mistley that we went from. The barge broke down and had to be fixed!! The water level was too low when we came back and had to wait around for an hour til there was enough depth to get us back into quay!! It was an excellent morning though with 45 different birds seen.

Anyway add

Scaup

Shag

Slavonian Grebe

Great Northern Diver

Bewick's Swan

to the list

bird count = 139

Waxwings are in Southend so it's time to be scanning the Rowan trees at Pitsea Tesco's

30 reported in Southend today, going to try to get out a bit this week so will be looking for localish waxwing sites

Lakeside and pitsea are usually good sites when there's an invasion of waxwings

Some good birds seen today,I actually heard what you had seen before you posted as rick vonk sent an e mail to Essex birders saying about the birds seen on the boat trip

Where did you hear about the trip,I am always up for a boat trip, there is a good one on Hamford water in the summer
