where are you going??

 

it's called - the highlights of essex, so it must be a mystery tour!

 

I saw over 80 different species on the day including:-

 

Yellow Wagtail

Grey Wagtail

Egyptian Goose

Little Gull

Red-crested Pochard

Pectoral Sandpiper, and a mega

 

 

Semipalmated Sandpiper!!

 

also seen a Black Swan but as it's not on the BOU list, I'm not including it

 

bird count = 120

Hiya,

 

Evidently someone did break in and took a gas fire and cylinder, mid October. Get to Bradwell-on-Sea and follow East End Road until you can go no further. There is a free carpark there. Then follow the track up to St Peter's Chapel and the BBO is in the thicket to the right. Unless you knew, you wouldn't know it's there. It's loosely run by the EWT and the EBS and has overnight accomodation but didn't get much details about the place. There were six of us including the leader and we set up in a sheltered spot near the place to watch the waders on a rising tide being put up by raptors. We were chatting to the "locals" and a tray of hot mugs of tea appeared for us. This was most welcome as it was 'king cold yesterday.

 

I put my list for the day up in the Essex forum on Birdforum.

Yeah I saw it,for some reason the Essex forum is one of the quieter forums,not too sure why but it may be that some Essex birders for whatever reason think they are too good for birdforum,you do get some stuck up so and so's birding in Essex and many are miserable Gits
