Wow, finally got in after a few weeks of trying, failing and giving up!! I'd also forgotten how painfully slow the page loading and posting process is!!!

Anyway I'm still out there birdwatching and have got up to 97 now with a Woodchat Shrike yesterday, the 18th.

Recent sighting have been:-

Reed Warbler

Sedge Warbler

Whitethroat

Blackcap

Black-necked Grebe.

I'll try to update my list tomorrow!

bird count = 97

beeswax, where did you get the woodchat shrike?

It was last Tuesday at West Canvey Marsh. It was only there for a few hours. I was at Vange Marsh and a chap I was speaking to, got a call to say it was there, so I rushed over to see it. At 1230, I'd never even heard of the bird and at 1255, I'd added it to the list!!

A week or so before, I saw a pair of Black-necked Grebe over at WCM too. There's more to the site than meets the eye.

I thought about going to WCM yesterday but reckoned that there would be too many people so went to Canvey Point (at low tide) instead which was a first visit for me. I saw the Whimbrel and Sanderling there which were new to me plus Ringed Plover and Brent Geese plus some I didn't recognise which seems to be happening to me a lot recently! I plan to go there then the tide is up and hopefully see the birds a little bit closer.

regards,

Terry

With waders they have so many different plumages it can be very confusing

This summer and winter plumage is a bit confusing but nothing like gulls, with their 1st, 2nd, 3rd year etc., plumage!

There are a pair of purple herons nesting at Dungeness.

lol been to vange & west canvey marsh' then lol

I was at Vange a couple of times a week but saw so much stuff that I couldn't identify that I now only go on arranged walks and following hot tips  I thought about going over to Paglesham today to see a Red-necked Grebe but knowing my luck it will have flown!
