Elmer Elliott

Recommended Posts

For those of you that know Elmer, Hoddesdon Town's ex Chairman, you may have heard that he is currently recovering in hospital after being rushed there last week.

I recieved the following from Roger Merton yesterday and thought I would post it to update any of you wanting to know his current condition. Elmer is very well respected in the SSMFL and non league football as a whole and I'm sure you will all join me in wishing him a speedy recovery.

"For those of you who didn’t know or hadn’t heard, Elmer (my predecessor as Chairman), 90 last August, was rushed to hospital last Thursday morning.

His wife Kay ‘phoned me on Thursday evening to say he was not at all well, unable to walk and had a chest infection.

I visited him at Princess Alexandra Hospital, Harlow, this afternoon (Saturday)

When I arrived he looked terrible and greeted me with ‘I’ve come here to die’. When I left he had perked up, had more colour in his cheeks and seemed better. He finds it difficult to walk far – breathing difficulty – and has this infection for which he is being well treated. He did admit that he hadn’t been feeling well for the last month and is also being treated for cancer. His brain and memory is working 100%. For those who didn’t know his son Michael died very tragically about a year ago.

He hopes to come home next week. Jim Briggs is arranging a card to be signed by players, Management and Committee at the Hadley game @ Potters Bar next Wed., I’ll keep you informed of any progress.
