Thumbs up to the Hartsdown "choir"

Margate Don

Recommended Posts

I've not seen it mentioned elsewhere so thought I'd just say well done to the Hartsdown "choir" who were very vocal yesterday, particularly at the start of the game which coincided with a bright start from our Margate team. Certainly seemed to be a markedly more noticeable contribution than at recent games (but then we haven't had many of those and my memory isn't that sharp). I'm sure this was just what Mark Butler was after when he talked in his pre-match interview; to quote...

"Mark wants the crowd to show Saturday’s visitors “what a good club Margate is.” And doesn’t feel the players will need much additional motivation. “They should want to play for the club every time they pull the shirt on” he said. “We’ll be ready to go.”"

I do hope we will get more of this at forthcoming games, it certainly can't have been easy given the cold wind at the Coffin End yesterday! I'm certain that it does lift the team and can serve as our 12th man. It also adds to the atmosphere for those of us less vocally talented!

PS - I've always considered myself to have a "glass half-full" perspective and therefore tend to focus on the positives. Leave the negative stuff for other threads.

I did actually mention it on the match thread yesterday. You could really hear them clearly in the background in the second half, when they were at the Hartsdown Rd end, It sounded like there was a big crowd there.

Obliquely refered to again by MB in his post match interview where as he says-apart from a few clubs-Margate being one of them-there's not really any such thing as home advantage in this league.

(3 points at Horsham then please Mr Butler )
