The Combined Counties League is two levels below where we are now and three below where we were only a few seasons ago. It's also the level where we'd have to start if we re-formed as AFC Slough Town or whatever guise we chose.

Even if the STSA had suggested this last year or the year before, would supporters have backed dropping a further two levels down the non-league pyramid to get rid of Deaner when they didn't know what we do now?

If this was put to the STSA and they dismissed the idea then I agree they have to take some responsibility. If that wasn't the case then I think it's unjustified to blame them for not having an idea that nobody else had either.

One of the anonymouses asked "so what did you do about it then Roger ?????"

All Roger has done is honestly admit he wrongly listened to passed on Deaner rubbish that everything would be all right on the night, spread on a "need to know basis."

Everyone is to blame but people like Roger (and Gary in the past, even though they see it a bit different) are only to blame for being human and wanting to think that other people will mostly tell them the truth. We all like life to be easier, not harder. So you sort of hope for the best, even if you have an uneasy feeling in the back of your mind. And if loads of people seem to believe it's okay, you only get marked as a trouble-maker for saying "Hang on a minute, lads, this is a load of toss, let's form a trust, drop 2 or 3 leagues, have a war with Deaner and then pay for it all."

Ian's right, if every fan of 1995-2000 had been given a free vote on that one 3 years ago, they would have strung up the people proposing it.

So there's blame for being naive, just like the people who because of their standing at the club or within the supporters were used to pass on "two weks type" rubbish. Nothing too serious to beat yourself up about as individuals, even if the consequences are serious. Everyone was tricked, no STSA official loving the club would intentionally back something that could kill it. They didn't do enough either, but had no real power base and did more than many.

So, all in all, the fans as a whole have about 5% of the blame. Say 500 people when you add up the regulars and now occasionals still left, that's .01% each. You don't need me to tell you where 95% of it lies.

You still have not got the point,if you had this in place Deaner & the Council would be talking to us. Chris is now doing this, but its the lack of planing that im on about.

You're not wrong for voicing your opinion Roge. Everyone's entitled to voice their's on here, and it will cause disagreements from time to time.

The STSA desperately want to believe what Martyn's saying as it would be the making of the club if everything he said came true, it's just far too often, it doesn't....

BUt remind me Roge, what have you done to warn STSA or others of the doom?

Believe me, would you really want to be in the position of being told, on a very regular basis, keep this to yourself but such and such is going to happen this week and this player is going to do this and Browne is doing this....

I've had that for the best part of last season. It's really not a nice situation to be in, believe me, because you want to tell people things, but at the same time, you have to respect the persons wish who told you the info in the first place. How often those things came true? Rarely.

What can we do to move on everyone? The club IS a sleeping giant at this level and has great potential for someone to harness. I don't think it's Deaner, and the Trust will not have enough financial clout to do it single handedly, so where's our saving knight coming from? I wish they were queuing up, I really do....

So there you go - Deaner and crew - crap at running a football club, but supreme masters of propaganda. Until now. You can fool some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time.

At least surely now there is no one left in the "shut up and don't rock the boat" camp. That means the fans should be able to unite and plot a campaign of action. Won't get fooled again. And if it does mean a restart for Slough at a lower level it will be a hard lesson to have learnt but one that wont be forgotten.

If all the regulars joined an 'AFC Slough Town'... I would too. The town can't really sustain two clubs (well it could I suppose, but the crowds wouldn't be that great).

Gary----further up the thread there is discussion about being told things in confidence. Many years ago I was very active in my union, and this confidence business is a common management ploy to divide people. If you represent the workers/supporters, then generally speaking, apart from the odd personal item like illness, its best to say that you cannot keep info from those you represent---otherwise its a classic tactic to divide and rule, and you get drawn into their game. You can't allow yourself to be divided from those you represent.

I haven't wrote on here for ages, but i still read most days, i was a fan for twenty years, and when Deaner took over, within 6 months i voted with my feet! I clearly remember Sliski and others telling me i would have blood on my hands cos of my constant critisism of Deaner, would make him decide to abandon the club! Well slapper my thigh! whose having the last laugh now. Moral of the story:Deaner had a history before taking over STFC, and that history appears to continue, He's a bankrupt and more danming bankrupt of ideas So if the situation resolves itself Mr Sliski DONT just back someone who cums in a white charger..........check his background first!

I hope you can appreciate what a tricky situation it is sometimes. I try to find out news and views for the website, and end up getting drawn into this web of 'silence'. It's not nice <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

Gary---it is difficult, which is why you need to be clear on how to operate.

My suggestion is that you make it clear you don't want to be told anything in confidence. That way you can publish anything you are told, and its up to others to decide what to tell you.I think that STSA could operate the same way. Not criticism, just trying to pass on a lesson that worked well for me.Obviously, if STSA were to run the club, they might have to operate differently, but as long as they are just a supporters association, they are in a no win situation if they withold info from those they represent.
