Future

Over the past few weeks i have been giving alot of thought to what has happened to our club over the last five years. I think that STSA should of forseen what was happening and has some sort of contingancy plan. If we had formed the trust last year we could have put pressure on Deaner but they did nothing and now can do nothing about the current situation.

Yes Roger shedloads of time has been wasted for fear of rocking the boat when it had a bleeding great hole in it within months of Deaner taking over. Some took the lifeboats while too many stood on deck playing.

Some have said the club is bigger than one man. But over time one man cocking up could do a hell of a lot of damage, And one man DOING NOTHING right now could bring this all to a sorry end.

Note that the newspaper could not get hold of Deaner in a week when everyone needs answers. So typical of the last 4 years or so....

Roge, Have I missed the point whilst I've been away for the weekend? Are the STSA actually capable of seeing into the future? All those times I spent at STSA meetings, I must have missed that bit, sorry....

I'm trying to comprehend how you can be passing the blame from Deaner to the STSA. Under Martyn's reign, the STSA have held the club together and afloat. Such things that Martyn is doing cannot be predicted, if they could, why didn't the 200 or so supporters who aren't signed up do something about it?

It's easy to pass the blame Roger, and I'm not having a personal dig, but at least the STSA are trying to do something, same as they always do every year. If only every supporter put in as much time and effort, I'd be surprised if the club would still be in the same situation.

You've seen first hand and helped out with some of things, so you know part of what's involved, and you also know despite many calls for help to 300-400 people, it's the same old 10-15 that are there helping out.

Anyone who reads back over my posts for the past 6-8 weeks knows where I believe the destruction of our club lies with. One man and one man alone has made all the difference. Why won't he just walk away and at least just give us a chance of trying to get the club moving forwards again.

Garry i wish i had a £1 for all the times i was told things are happening that we could not be told about.when its to late to get into another league thats what they try and do.Deaner holds the name Slough Town FC, if we had done this at the end of last season formed a trust Deaner would have been out of it. As you know i have always defended Deaner but i now realise what he is, STSA are just like i was, not willing to listen to what a lot of others were saying.

For Roger read devils advocate. You'd argue with yourself in an empty room Roger!!

Apportioning blame to the STSA is wrong. I've spoken to many Slough fans over the last few weeks of protests who have wished we'd have done something sooner. That's not the fault of the STSA but everyone who is a Slough Town supporter who has done little up to now.

Chris S has, and continues to do, a fantastic job in getting people to campaign on behalf of the club. You were there Roger and saw how many people turned out. As Gary says, it's the same twenty people every time.

We're all to blame. I've followed Slough Town for several years but only attended games for a few seasons. Forget the past and think about the future. This club will survive because there's too may people who care too much to let it die.

Keep the faith, Slough Town Football Club will get through this and be stronger for it.

COME ON YOU REBELS.

No, not when they have got eyes tightly shut and fingers in their ears praying nothing too nasty happens.

However they are not the only ones to blame by long way. At least STSA got on with keeping ground okay and lots more behind scenes. If more fans had joined STSA & given it some muscle it would have gone a long way. For too long STSA used "We are not poltical, only here to help club."

An independant supporrters association never got off the ground because basically too many people just want to come along and watch, moan or enjoy, but not make things happen.

Soon after he arrived Deaner said in papers that supporters representatives would be on club board. Of course this never happened or fans would know more what was going on. And nno one held him to promise.

Too many mushrooms, fed [******] and kept in the dark. And Roger is right at least at about "important things going on behind the scenes which can't be talked out." A great smokescreen for sweet fanny adams happening, and helpfully spread by people on terraces who liked to think they knew more than they did. They knew more waffle perhaps, but not facts. It works like this...

Every now and again Deaner hints something great is going to happen but doesn't want everyone to know, including press. The chosen few pass this on. Of course everyone wants to believe good news, even the hint of it. "We'll be able to say more in 2 weeks"..... Meanwhile years pass....

Oh im sorry, i went to most away games last season and i cant recall a pitch in better condition or a ground you could be more proud of, what right have you got to comment,if you had a problem with any aspect of the ground then you should of come down most evenings and helpes Lionel look after the pitch,or come along every saturday morning and help the rest of us clean the ground up,until then please dont insult the rest of us that do give up our time to try to make the ground look 'OKAY' <img src="/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />

What exactly do you think they are doing then by setting up the trust? On many occasions the STSA have been there to clear up Deaner's footballing financial faux-pas, money which they've worked hard to earn through voluntary help from a handful of supporters.

What actually happens if, and it's a bloody big if, Deaner does somehow come good? Personally, I can't see it happening, and I don't actually want it to happen, as we'll only have to put up with more and more of his lies, truth bending and poor financial management and P.R.

There are plenty of things happening at the club which are best not made public right away. I've been privvy to certain information on many occasions which shouldn't come out until the time is right. It's the same at many clubs at this level not just ours.

Anony, you seem to know plenty about Deaner's ways, how about helping us finally get him out of our club?

I'm sure he's got access to this forum, so knows full well what we think of him (I was threatened, loosely, with being sued once by Martyn's company if a message appeared on here about a 'deal' of his taking place.) obviously not that it makes a blind bit of difference.

Deaner out? Not quite yet....

Soz BFR my fault, as iv already said once b4 i deleted it,we both percieive what annonymous wrote differently, it just pissed me off the way he says the keeping of the ground was just OKAY, i believe the ground is very good in comparison to other grounds at our level.

I stick to what i wrote.

Ah thats the problem with the internet - you can't always tell exactly what people say, or mean to say. Everybody on here's a bit right....arent they Uncle?

Dom, Anonymous wasnt slagging the state of the ground or STSA's work on it. It IS no more than okay, but when you consider how few people actually join in the more physical or boring work, and that it's not even their ground but only on this poisonous lease, it's a superb achievement and a medal should go to the silent heroes.. STSA's The Few,

Having said that, The Few have a right to say where were the rest of us?

And as to seeing into the future - surely everyone saw this coming, it just took some people both in and out of STSA far too long to finally realise they were being fed rubbish. Thats what happens to decent people - easy to turn over. Just look em in the eye and promise itll be okay ..make up a bit of spin.... more than half will believe it.

Two or three years ago even, people on the old forum who warned Deaner would do exactly this were virtually flamed off by a lot of us. The message then was don't rock the boat.

Yes, STSA should have hardened up & set up the trust some time ago. And yes more fans should have helped them do it. We're all to blame – Ian is spot on for what he says. As for Roger, the very least you can say is he now realises toeing the party line was a mistake and it takes guts to post that.
