WEFC 5 - Hungerford 1

OK, so we needed the equaliser to really wake us up... but then I don't think Hungerford knew what hit them!

As usual we created a load of chances - I was keeping count in the first half, and just from the clear chances we had two huge wasted opportunities, a headed goal-line clearance, a struck post, one weak and one blatant handball ignored, not to mention the saves... Fine debut for Nathan, 60 minutes and the opening goal - very nice! He looked good, too - not as fast as Victor, but who is? and his control seemed better, I look forward to seeing him on a dry pitch. Certainly he's a lot stronger.

Pitch was pretty good considering, although it was clearly very wet and slow which wasn't helping us much.

Hungerford looked up for it, playing quite defensively (not sure if it was a formal 4-5-1 or just one striker hanging back a lot) but I think after they got that goal they just mentally slackened - or maybe were too tired - and we seemed to get attack, after attack, after attack... Jake looked so fine on the wing, he really had the measure of their left-side players, Seeds looked strong, the defence (apart from one glaring piece of poor marking) were comfortable if a bit rusty at times, and Chenns has lost none of his hunger and I think is getting even faster. Rico looked really useful when he came on, too: I think the slower pitch actually suited him, and he did nicely for his second.

Still clear at the top, still looking good :signthankspin:

And another strength, for I think the first time this season we're leading the 'goals scored' in our league as well as having conceded the fewest.

(I love looking at this table right now).

Although admittedly Totton and/or Cirencester will probably have overtaken us again on the 'scored' count once they've played as many as us, 3 games each to score 3 goals...
