Will wait until the official announcement from MFC before getting too excited;but if confirmed-a 'proper signing'-hopefully on contract for 18 months.

As article says-reported to be one of MB 's original targets '.

Would give us bite, leadership and goalscoring ability from central midfield;where the game revolves.

Just trust it can be confirmed.

On a different note-Keister and Blackman suspended for saturday-will make it even more challenging !!

I was told yesterday by an Ashford fan we had nicked (as he put it) one of their better players and, if confirmed, will help the midfield as a tough tackler plus he can score too!!! 46 goals in 202 games a pretty good strike rate for a midfielder, can see him becoming our captain too.

Tough Tackler! Your mate must be watching Ashford Kent! Jonno cant tackle for toffee, He has however got the sweetest left foot in the Ryman and puts in a wicked freekick ,will be a good signing for you, if its true of course.

I must admit I was hoping it was a certain striker but he would be a good second choice. If it is true I see he has told Ashford he won't play against them on Saturday, why not I say :D

As before- i'll just wait for official confirmation-we've had 'rugged pulled' too many times recently.

I'd like that certain striker as well- but he is arguably too good for the ryman and i reckon a bigger stage awaits him.

More than happy with Johnson if it happens-and if anything-i reckon a quality midfielder is more important than a striker

I'm not prepared to go into specifics, however, there are some inconsistencies between the situation reported elsewhere and my understanding of the situation. As promised, whenever the situation as been resolved one way or the other, we'll bring the relevant facts to our supporters' attention on the official club website. In the meantime, I can confirm that we will not respond to general speculation or directly to reports from other sources but we will conduct our affairs in accordance with the appropriate regulations. And at the risk of sounding like a pompous old git (too late I hear some of you cry) past experience would suggest that further speculation could prove unhelpful.

Agree with, support and understand your/the clubs position wellsie; and just as 'boys will be boys' - surely part of the fun of a forum -particularly an unofficial one -is for those of us sad enough; to indulge in a bit of gossip, speculation and trolling !!

I don't think too many of us take it as gospel until anything is reported on the official site.

(why every time i correct a simple spelling mistake which is vitually everytime does it come up with post edited these days ?)

Does anyone else get the slight feeling that Ashford are maybe a little bitter towards us, having read the match preview and the somewhat schoolboy 'he said, she said' insinuations?

No bitterness, most Ashford fans hope Butts and now Johnno (if / when he joins you) do well, they were both excellent servants to Ashford and nice guys who have many friends here. We understand that being the small club we are, players / staff will be tempted away from time to time. I for one will be looking forward to seeing, and hopefully having a pint with, Butts tomorrow.

I think the comments were more in annoyance that the story came out in the local press as a signed and sealed deal even before we had received the 7 day letter.

Looking forward to the game, think it could be a cracker ....

Margate appear to have gone about this the correct way, but the news appears to have been released by an Ashford official. Not very professional.

No body has said that Margate didn't and I spoke to our Secretary on Wednesday and he confirmed as much and that your secretary had been in touch with him.

"Not very professional" - A little harsh, having seen most of the Ashford committee in "the know" this week I would be very surprised if it came from one of them, backed up by the fact that we had no intention of announcing anything on our website or forum until it was a done deal. I understand Jamie was asked about Johnno's request to leave so gave his comments but didn't "leak" the story. Maybe someone overheard a comment in the bar or Johnno himself spoke to the press, doubt we'll ever know.

In fairness to the guy on the Ashford forum (I forget his name) , did apologise that the story came out in their local press before their website. From our point of view, we wouldn't have commented until any signing was fully finalised (our usual policy as you know) but we felt it appropriate to respond given the news that came out at Ashford's end - no blame on them.
