Lewes on the brink

Very sad, as I like Lewes as a club and The Dripping Pan is a lovely ground. However, it's the usual story of a club over reaching itself. You could guess the budget for their Conference South winning team, just by looking at the names of the players. The Manager is trying to do similar in his current post, although not his fault I guess if the club owners allow it to happen. Can't help but smile as all the Conference Premier players drop a couple of levels due to the size of the club or the potential (yup, it's the size and potential of the wage packet!).

I fear Lewes may go the way of King's Lynn this week and no doubt reform in the summer down in the lower reaches of the Sussex County League.

A shame, but nobody ever seems to learn....

Whenever we say at Windsor that Conf South is the highest we could, and should, go you often get a disapproving look as if we are limiting our expectations. We've been there before for a considerable while, why couldn't we get there again and beyond?

Lewes is just another example of why some teams can only expect to get to a certain level without finding themselves in difficulty. Too much too soon and another club, a likeable one too, bites the dust. I wonder if Truro will be far behind if they end up in mid table mediocrity this season?

The fear with Lewes is I guess they could lose their ground, which would be a huge shame, I remember watching Windsor there man mnay years ago and just loving the whole ground, it looks great.

Ah well, lets just hope we don't end up in a similar state, you just never know what will happen do you?!?!?!

When Lewes used to visit Meadowbank to play Dorking, there lady supporters were always welcome, as they used to celebrate every Lewes goal by flashing their upper-assets.

We never minded loosing to Lewes ! A great bunch of fans.
