Windsor & Eton Vs. Taunton Town

Game is off tomorrow.

There all off!!! Yet another midweek fixture for everyone. As everyone has games in hand over Frome i can see all these fixture postponements helping us out nearer the end of the season with others being really stretched to the limit. Could be a Somerset bonanza as far as the play-offs are concerned what with Paulton & Bridgy & us doing well.

It's certainly good for Frome, but Windsor & Paulton have played nearly as many: and effectively it only helps any side against teams chasing them, not those already ahead. So because Windsor currently have a solid lead at the top, I think we actually benefit most.

I'm certainly happy with it, because it will make it that much harder for the teams chasing us to make up the gap if they have to play multiple games/week for several weeks at the end of the season: whereas our points are already on the board.

Looking at our schedule, we've got just 5 midweek games planned so far (not counting Easter Monday), one more to come for certain. Compare that to Totton, who have 8 midweeks already: so they have two games virtually every week from next week to mid-March, and presumably another two more to include... and that's assuming no more postponements. Same for Bridgwater and VT FC. It's very hard to win every game in hand under those circumstances.

Although theres still a long way to go yet , i really cant see anyone catching W&E or Totton, even if totton lose all their games in hand there still a fair way clear in 2nd. Will W&E be able to carry on so stongly in the 2nd half of the season? Will you capitulate after your 1st defeat of the season (probably against frome!)? My prediction is that W&E wil finish 1st with Totton as RU. Gosport & VT will falter under the strain of too many midweek games to all ow Bridgwater to finish 3rd Frome 4th & Paulton 5th. Any advance on that prediction?

Never predict football. It always makes you look like a tit! Look at, if it isnt still freinds of DOF only, Tottons message board. Not one of their fans said anything other than a Totton win when they played Windsor!!

Wise words Woody, trying to predict places halfway through the season is a very dangerous thing to do. Totton were as good last year as they are this year and they dropped 15 out of a possible 18 points in their bad run around this stage of the season.

A very long way to go as Windsor found out last season. I still feel the freeze last year when Truro game wass called off ruined our season as I am sure we would have won that game had it been on (circumstances etc) and then pushed on. But that is history and hopefully we have learned our lesson. this freeze has definitley aided us, but not sure if I would prefer Totton to be playing now as they appear to be in a bit of a muddle at the moment, or to accumulate games to make it harder later in the season.

We just have to keep winning and putting the pressure on those chasing us.
