It used to be beer central. When I was 17 or 18, every night used to be beer night, and wherever you went, you'd bump into mates and people you know.

Not anymore. Everyone's got serious jobs and responsibilities, and "not tonight mate, I've got work tomorrow" and "can't come out, the missus won't allow it" and "cheers anyway mate, but I fancy an early night tonight".

my personal faves are january cos all the stokers give up then and tuesdays, not many play on that day and it ties in nicely with midweek footy.. thursday is the big city piss up but i've normally shot my bolt by then.. friday lunchtimes obviously...

i prefer to avoid friday nights saturday nights and xmas.. part time drinkers just making a mess of everything

Zeal - I've just had a thought: Imagine the situation, this time next year you fancy a nice Monday evening beer. Unfortunately EFMTFTV is too busy with his celebrity friends. Myself, Trev, and EFM's ginger lawyer are all living in London, the teacher has given up drinking, and the youngsters are going up the Cross keys - what do you do? <img src="/images/graemlins/frown.gif" alt="" />

He can come along with me and my mates! It's very odd, a lot of my friends are your age Zeal(nowadays anyway). And most of us are of Irish descent, or totally Irish so there's no messing about!

 

I think midweek drinking is the best because: 1) You get pub quizes, karaoke(I never do it) etc so it'a more than just sitting in a pub which can be boring 2) People tend to feel under pressure to get totally mashed and pull on a friday/saturday night and so the atmosphere is different. It always feel more tense. And when they don't pull, the sexual frustration usually turns to violence!

Midweek drinking is cool - I am a bit of a fan at Watford on a Wednesday actually, all the w*nkers stay at home, it's pretty busy but not rammed, no attitude (well for Watford), every bar is more or less a pound a pint, Area nightclub is free entry and open until 2.
