The problem here is that county matches take priority over all other games. This applies to all counties as far as I am aware.

A club is a member of the county before any league.

Also in the above in view of the current weather, the Essex FA have extended the deadline - Chelmsford have also had to cancel a league match for example.

If it had of been this week, then Aveley would have been off in the league cup and would probably have had to be arranged anyway.

But without counties there might not clubs or leagues. The Essex FA is some 20 years older than the league.

Bit chicken and egg situation.

I think you will find the Essex FA do an awful lot for grass roots football.

am sure they do and they probably have been around for longer but the fact of the matter is that many more fans watch league football than they do county cup.

Clubs live and die on league matches not county cup matches,if a club was to go a couple of months without playing a league home game there could bve serious financial implications,if a club goes out of the county cup then no one is too bothered.

Without fans, there are no football clubs

Take away county fa's and football would find a way of living without them

don't get me wrong,i like the essex senior cup,one of my all time favourite memories is of us going to roots hall but with this harsh winter and games being cancelled left right and centre, surely it wouldn't hurt if the essex senior cup was maybe moved back.

You could play the quaters in february and still play the final early march/late march

If this weather continues in the same vein for much longer, I can't see the county or league cups being completed before the end of the season.
