Its been noticed that some of the most regular fans dont seem to come to matces anymore , one said they were so dissapointed

with the clubs results that they had got out of the habbit of going

now. Maybe its the weather or illness thats affected others, lets

hope that better results will bring them back.

I know times are hard and money is short for a lot of people so this is probably a big plus as to why a percentage of people do not attend games anymore but also i can say for myself that life on the terreces have changed over the past 3-4 yrs and alot of the magic has gone with it and with life on the pitch being at a low point for the past few yrs and the non excitment of having no cup runs just adds to the way people feel about the club nowadays .

With Mark Butler now managing the club i do really think he can get us back on track but he know`s that its going to be a long while before he knows we are going in the right direction and i think its time that all the surporters realised that and worked with him on it . Some fans and im being as honest as i can still seem to think we are the bee`s knees and we are unsinkable but when your sinking you go down quicker than you can imagine . If we have no money then how can we challenge for promotion , if there are certain players that are not willing to put in 110% then they have to go and as Mark has said he will keep looking for them but he`s on a catch 22 here meaning he wants a settled side but how can he have one if he has to get rid . Being a manager of a football club has to be one of the hardest things around but running a club like ours must be impossible . From the very bottom of the club all the way to the top has to work but if there is one broken rung then it won`t work .

What we all have to start realising is we are not in the conf anymore we have not got those sort of players at the club we don`t get the attendences like we used to so that leaves us with what we`ve got and thats not alot compared to what was but as i said MARK BUTLER will take us onto something better but it also depends how long the board and fans want that success to be here

TIME is a good healer but this time we should give time to the person or persons to acchive it

Up the Gate .

Thats very true just think fans are fed up watching very average football at best and also no new ground same old story. Think that alot of people i know aswell just had enough of same old problems its like groundhog day, very sad but until there is any stability around the club in ALL ways they have lost the trust and support of alot of fans. Do think the manager is a good guy and with the right support and funding he could be very successful not sure if its gonna be Margate sadly.

I think really the board have to sit back and let Mark do his job . He did it at Ashford as we all know on a tight budget and he led them to success in all area`s so he know has to prove to us he can do this with margate .

The differance is he had the backing of his board there all the way to him saying he was leaving to come and manage us so this is what he needs from our board right up untill its the last day in his job with the Gate . If they show any remorse then this could start a downward spiral so all for one and one for all has to work there straight away this will then lead to getting something back from the squad . If you have a settled happy family then its always going to be good , if there is a family rift then all get upset and then all goes wrong and they all blame eachother then no one knows what they are doing , this = collaspe which is what we have been in for quite along time .

I for one would be happy to spend another season in the Ryman prem which will take us into 2010-2011 then the end of that season pushing for promotion but playing good quality football with a good bunch of lads that are commited to us , lets hope some we have now will comit to this and see it through because im sure we can .

The only problem is can everyone involved with the club begin to understand that it won`t be instant it will be a while but it will happen if we all wait and help instead of hindering and preeching and bitching about it like we have for the past few yrs

Good posts Andy. It seems that the new board members want some stability on the financial side. With this financial prudency, it's a real tough job for Mark this season. At least in the summer he will be able to wipe the slate clean and juggle the budget how he wants to.

I agree that we have seen a number of characters disappear from the terraces over the past few years. That's a real shame. People that are passionate about the club but don't come anymore because they find it too depressing. Genuinly though, I'm more positive than I have been for years about the club. The new management team seem to know the level well. It's time the fans that left started coming back. After all, the choir could do with more numbers for a start.

I know it's not exciting or even motivating for a lot of fans, but the fact that the club has reacted to so many postponements of home games by tightening its belt with the playing budget is a good thing in the long run. Not that long ago, the club might have chosen a different route. But prudence and sustainability are the stepping stones to long term success, and they go hand in hand with a focus on the commercial side which as you may have seen in Cliff's interview is receiving a lot of attention. Of course, in the current economic climate, it all takes time.

All I'd say, is to encourage current and past fans to do whatever they can to help the club: from coming to matches, buying a programme, buying something in the club shop to sponsoring a player, a match ball, Gate Radio, a home match. There are lots of ways suppporters can make a contribution.

Being in a group of around 8 that used to go and sing at most away and all home games in the dr martins league and conf games, also conf south games. The main reason most have lost heart is the constant bullsh@t about the new ground! the years in Dover and Ashford all the crap we were fed.

Out of that small group that joined in with the songs ect. I am now the only one that still goes occasionaly, all this said we still have one of the biggest fanbases in the league. And this alone should encourage the team and managment, in time with there performance they and we will hear that support again. Imo we now have the managment to take us forward, but on a personal note can we use the wing play like we did with jj and js pleeeease.

sheffield wednesday closed the cop end because of lack of ticket sales and to save costs. attendances dropping in the fa cup. some clubs wanted to drop prices but were prevented in doing so by fa rules. conclusion on 5-live was to much tv football, money only goes as far as it goes until spent. tv is easy/cheap option.
