Excellent result and yet ANOTHER clean sheet. Last goal scored against us was the 14th of November in VERY windy conditions! Excellent work. We've scored a fair few since then aswell!

Think we could, and should, of had more than 5 today but what a fantastic result. Not one player had a bad game but Jake Parsons was a different class. Some of his crosses where unplayable and not a bad goal for him either!!

8.30am at the train station saturday as we set off to face a vastly improving Taunton side who recently drew with AFC Totton. Treat them with the same respect we've shown everyone else and we should win.

Rumours of a new striker joining our ranks to replace Victor as well another plus 200 crowd. Good times down the ,freezing cold, Meadow!

Jake is looking superb, no question, how often did he beat multiple players to put a good cross in; he looked good from his first appearances as substitute, until this season I think he's probably our best player - but even five goals up and after three substitutions (including him) we were still looking keen and threatening. The whole team is playing with real confidence and it's a joy to watch.

Combo of the match has to be that Seeds run drawing defenders, backheel to Jake, forward run and a sweet cross to Chenns who adds the natural finish to make it look easy. As good a move as you'll see at any level.

And a little bit more daylight between us and the competition...

Forgot - and as the last piece of great news we had a 253 attendance, comfortably our best of the season (in the league).

I'm not sure how many Uxbridge normally bring, I didn't think it was very many and looking at their general gates it wouldn't seem to be a lot - but even if we allow a very generous 75 travelling on the Bank Holiday, our home gate is still well up on normal.

Maybe the BH helped compared to a Saturday game, but I think the combination of our season so far and some sterling work on the publicity front is beginning to help. Well done that Stag!

The publicity front is working i'd have to say!

Myself and Scotty were told by a number of people that they came because they had been given a flyer during Scotty's visit to Windsor town centre.

Also well done to Ian Dawson himself for posting in excess of 200 flyers into the homes of many Windsor residents. More publicity runs I say!!!

Cracking game today... Well done to the whole team, a great performance. Man of the match in my opinion, Jake Parsons! My favourite play of the day was as Rico was steaming along onto the edge of the 18 yard box, the Uxbridge defender attempted to tackle him, missed the ball tripped Rico who stayed on his feet looking back at the said defender lay on the floor and simply laughed in pitty as he was unable to win the ball or tumble Rico!!!

I am told the new striker is James Taylor from AFC Totton. My, that sounds like a right coup.

They have given Chennells 2 goals - didn't Seedel smash home the 4th after the 'keeper had made a good save?

I'd heard we'd signed a Totton striker also. Don't know if it's Taylor - he's unlikely to be a like-for-like for Victor, since he's 35 and so probably not a pace player; while the most prolific strikers listed on their web site are Sherborne and Jack, 26 and 22 respectively, and Taylor's further down the list.

The second was certainly announced as Chenns at the time - I thought he'd fired home the first shot which the keeper did well to parry, but wasn't sure if he'd also reached the rebound... however when also trying to explain things to a cold 4-year-old it's easy to miss details.

I thought it was chenns.

Nathan Jack was ex-bracknell so perhaps lives in this area? I know the player we signed is from around here so would make sense! We'll wait and see. Either way a bonus for us and a blow for our rivals is always welcome. Perhaps Wolfie can give us the low down?!

Sounds like it is Nathan Jack from AFC Totton's board.

Mind you they think I'm there to create mischief and wind them up which is nonsense. Doesn't respect exist between rival non-league teams? They actually deleted the thread I started. Bizarre. Anyway, I've started another one so we'll see if that disappears as well.

I think you'll like Jacko, if you can get him to pass the ball. Good player but a bit greedy. had a great start to the season, but not been quiet so good - well since you kept him quiet really !!

Wrap up warm for Taunton, bloody freezing when we went the other week but a bloke did dish out roasties during the game for nothing !!

The pitch is awful and the floodlights are very poor. beer good and cheap though.

if you are going into town, I can recommend The Racehorse Inn

Do you think being def will affect Nathan's game?

Well, he sounds like a better fit to replace Victor than Taylor does. From what I saw when Totton played us, he did seem to be the fast dangerous type (assuming he was #9 then, didn't note names).... but also noting his stats, from 25 appearances he's scored 10 goals this season and as many assists.

But I'll still wait for the official announcement before celebrating!

Meanwhile, a very fair report from the Uxbridge site. I'd forgotten both Rob and Jake used to play for them... didn't look like any favours were done, for sure! :D

They do mark Jake as MoM, I haven't heard anyone disagree yet...

Also, correcting my earlier posts and clearing the confusion, this states it was Chenns who scored his second goal by collecting the rebound from his own saved shot, but Gavin who picked up Jake's cross to complete the perfect move with a goal.

And apparently Gavin continued the club "tradition" of being shamed for missing an open goal/sitter by having to carry a rubber chicken for the rest of the night, at least in sight of W&E fans...

who *did* start that tradition, I wonder, and when? It's good to see it observed, of course.

Mick Budny, the AFC Totton Director of Football who wrote the somewhat ungracious report following their defeat at our hands has now added this contribution to his club's website:

We received a call from Windsor and Eton late yesterday afternoon stating that they have agreed terms with Nathan Jack and they are hoping to complete the transfer next week.

Jacko was happy at AFC Totton and made that clear to both Stu and i recently. On the other hand we are not surprised though that he has elected to join a club which is only about 20-25 minutes from his home and work and that they are battling with us for promotion. It is always a risk taking on a player that lives 90 minutes from the ground. We thought it was worth the gamble as he used to come down to Southampton FC when he was younger and he said he did not mind the journey. Jacko did not want to sign a contract so he is a free agent and not formally tied to us.

We are however disappointed in the manner in which he has left. The management and players bent over backwards to make him feel at home. In fact the only club to express an interest in Jacko in pre-season was struggling Aylesbury. Most of the local clubs where he lives did not fancy him but we thought he was under rated and could improve him which credit to Stu he has helped Jacko a lot. He also got a lot of positive press and got great support from the the Stags fans

Jacko has not even bothered to pick up the phone to either Stu or myself which is a shame.

We need to move on though and forget Jacko. It is a set back but we are still strong in the forwards department. Williams, Sherborne and Taylor are quality players and we have Osman to come back. Our short term issue is numbers rather than ability. With Jacko we had four fit forwards now we have three.

Nathan Jack has now responded on the Totton forum as follows:

As with everything there are 2 sides to every story.

In my 6 months at the club i have enjoyed myself and made many new friends.

My decision to leave the club in the manner i did may seem sudden, However i feel there was a level of honesty and communication missing which played a major part in me leaving the way i did.

(Travelling or money was NOT the issue)

I have spoken to all the boys and wished them the best of luck for the rest of the season, i would also like to thank all the fans and people who supported me in my time at the club and wish them all the best for the future.

I would like to wish Jacko all the best and I agree with smedley not everyone believes everything they hear and as with the Ross situation I feel there's more to it than we're being told. It was said on here and in the Echo that Ross had problems with Stu Ritchie but at the risk of having this post removed from the forum I think the problem Ross had was not directly with Stu but with the person who actually runs the team and that's Mr Budny. Why does the director of football take up a place on the bench ? I don't think that Jack will be the last player tthat will leave the club because of the "distance" or because of "work commitments"

The thread really is worth having a look at. http://www.pitchero.com/clubs/afctotton/?section=forum&thread_id=101778&start=0&message=#post101870
