HORNCHURCH will look to keep the feel-good factor alive at Bridge Avenue going into the New Year.

In-form Urchins made the short trip to rivals Aveley on Boxing Day, earning a last-gasp 1-1 draw, and host Billericay tonight (Tuesday).

And manager Colin McBride - who has seen Jim McFarlane's men lose just twice in their last 17 games - said: "They're two games we go into without fear. We've just got to keep doing what we've been doing.

"Aveley have come up this season and been quite busy with bringing people in, but their manager [Rod Stringer] is trying to improve them so fair play to him.

"Billericay had to turn the corner sooner or later and it appears as if they have now.

"They're both local games, but when you look at this league at the moment, it's all over the place, with teams beating each other.

"I bet Dartford are glad they got off to such a good start now, as they haven't been as impressive lately.

"But it's all much of a muchness and down to who wants to win more on any given day.

"We're scoring goals now and we're not conceding the poor ones like we were before, which is a good recipe. We've just got to keep it going."

Jamie Dormer served a one-game ban on Boxing Day and should return to face former club Billericay and captain Elliot Styles played against Millers, despite injury fears.

McBride said: "It wasn't as bad as we first feared and it seems like Elliot is a quick healer. He's like a Jimmy McFarlane, though, and would play with an injury still."

Urchins entertain Aveley in their return league fixture on Saturday (January 2), before a league cup tie at Mill Field on January 11.
