Yesterdays attendance & Maidstone Chairman

GIven that attendance and the number of Gate fans, there could only have been 150 - 170 or so Stones fans. A shame for them but as we know, public transport to Homelands is naff.

Can't help but feel sorry for Their Fans, in the years since they joined the Kent League (2001-2002)they have been ground sharing whilst supporting a team that has had it's fair share of success (gaining promotion to the Isthmian League and then to the Isthmian Premier).

Now they have a site for their own ground but still have a few seasons before they can hope to move there. We know from experience the drawbacks of groundsharing - I'm not sure as a supporter I'd be as patient as Chairman Mr Bowden-Brown expects the Maidstone faithful to be (ten plus years travelling to remote 'home games' can't be fun at any level, let alone Non League).

To be fair to their chaiman, he looks like he is crying out for the support of someone like our own excellent MISA, who as we all know donate an awful lot, not just to our club but to the local hospital as well. We know what the wilderness of ground share is like and I would not wish that on my worst enemy. Good luck to them all in bringing the club back to Maidstone.

I would take what Bowden Brown says in the press with a pinch of salt. He will always say what people want to hear rather than the reality.

A Supporters Trust was mooted a year or so ago but we were told by the chairman he would not entertain it. I am sure he would love the supporters help as long as they did exactly as he said and that they have no real influence or power.

In addition, plenty of people have offered to help the club but refuse to work with him or pay his asking price for control.

Not that I know any details, but PBB has alsways seemed a slightly odd character - not the first toi run a senior Maidstone club of course. But for such a bunch of potentially passionate fans, it doesn't seem good enough. Good luck to the fans at Maidstone.
