Matt Reed-well done

Accepting that there may not have been to many Margate supporters there to appreciate it-incl. myself- should we be making more of matt reeds penalty save yesterday ?

Had Maidstone equalised-would the team have crumbled to a defeat again ?

 

From Margate Dons photos-looks a full stretch and a great save.

 

Seems to have won the 'gate three as opposed to one point so looks a great effort to me from 230 miles away.

 

In the wider picture,from what i have both seen and read,Matt Reed seems to have solved the goalkeeping issue.

He may not be the best Ryman keeper ,but has done more than ok/enough in my book and is at least ryman standard.

 

Most importantly-whilst he will inevitably make a few errors-he seems pretty consistent to me ;and i think its consistency that you really want from a gk.Get that first and foremost-and if you get a few great saves thrown in-fantastic

 

So from me-well done Matt Reed and not forgetting Mark Butler who 'found' and signed him.

I agree, it does the team a world of good to have a consistent keeper behind them and after a few teething problems Matt Reed does seem to be settling down. Margate have had some great keepers in the past and i for 1 would love to see Matt reed go on and join them.

Glad to see his save yesterday is earning some praise. That could be a crucial three points for our season. We can now start to look up the league table and set a few more positive targets.

 

Reed is one I expect to come good. He built a decent reputation at Tonbridge a couple of seasons ago, and has seemed to have drifted since, so maybe now his confidence is building again, I hope. Don't know how true this is, but I heard that he has an agent that got involved and tried to get him a better deal than the one he was on at TAFC. That obviously ended in tears. Where have we seen that before....a certain left back I seem to remember.

 

My advice to Matt is to settle in here with us and fulfill your potential.

 

Also, Ben Clarke seems like a real find. Obviously credit must go to the management for unearthing him. Quick, tall, direct, and fearless. I wonder if he's really only 18 or 19? Could have a big future if he settles down for a couple of seasons.

Completely agree with all that has been said. It really was a superb penalty save - well done Matt. As others have said, if that had gone in, Maidstone would almost certainly have got their tails up and may well have pushed on to get three points. Big, big three points I feel.
