in his heyday Meatloaf was superb...the original bat out of hell tour was something else again and at the time they had a real fit bird in the band and she and meatloaf used to 'enact' the lyrics when doing 'paradise by the dashboard light'....it was subsequently banned from stage after it all went over the top one night...

 

brilliant....

 

sadly he was only ever a one album man and its all old hat now...

 

still one of the best albums ever made...

I'd say that Meatloaf is a superb performer but 'theatrical genius' might be going a bit far.

 

If anyone derserves 'self-indulgent twat' it's Jim Steinman who actually wrote the material. I've no idea whether he's overweight.

Sae meatloaf live a couple of years ago thinking he was a bit crap and only went cause i got the ticket for like a fiver and he was aboustely brilliant

Meatloaf is quite funny when he does interviews, I caught him on party in the park yesterday and he was funny and I remember him being great on never mind the buzzcocks.

 

However most of his music is drivel.

 

David Gray is drivel on both accounts I should imagine. That Kate from BB should piss off as well, I quite like Iain Lee, he can either he very blunt and funny or a pile of piss.

Is this thread still going? Uncle Urchin, the fit bird's Ellen Foley, who's not a bad recording artiste in her own right if you're as old as me and into sad mid-80s stadium rock (I do like other stuff too, honest). You do get value for money from Meatloaf's live shows though, and he gave Tim whatsisname a good run for his money in what I think was the hightlight of the last series of Soccer AM.
