Jarvis: 'Slough won't win the league'

Mindgames.

Burnham have come under their first bit of pressure this season after 2 results not going their way and Jarvis obviously feels the need to divert the attention.

It's good though. He obviously feels threatened by Steve Bateman and the team.

Quite how Jarvis feels he could have won the league by now too managing Slough. Does he think the league ends at Christmas?

Absolutely ridiculous, he is clearly living in a dream world!

I, like a lot of Slough fans I'm sure, would still expect Hitchin to run away with the league from the position they are in. I would just be pleased at this stage for us to make the playoffs come the end of the season.

Maybe he should focus on his own team rather than us! Last I heard Burnham were meant to be the team with all the money!

The AFC Totton manager has said somethings along those lines about Windsor, in the Totton local paper, which got into the hands of a Windsor fan and then into the hands of the manger and sqaud! These things ALWAYS bite you on the [****!!****].

Mind games at this level? Pathetic! I thought this level was above that rubbish

That's probably my fault actually. I've been round his house most evenings, banging on his door and shouting "Slough Town are going to win the league". No wonder he's sick of hearing it, I would be too. His players are probably telling him the same thing too.

Seriously though, how many times does he say 'Slough' in that interview? Someone's got a fixation...

Everyone likes a battle of mind games. It's been too quiet on this forum!

"If I was spending Slough's money with their budget, I would have won the league by now" - how can any team have won the leauge at this point with more than half the season to go? Jamie needs a leason in maths!

It also goes to show he is fixated with money, as soon as the money ran out at Beaconsfield he was chasing the money of the Burnham cricket man, and now he is looking round to see who he can milk next!

With Burhams large home support that must be upping the budget?

I think deep down Mr Jarvis wants to be STFC Manager.
Of course he does! Or Windsor. As soon as either vacancy arises, I'm sure he'll be sniffing around.

I'd have said so in the close season, managing either Slough or Windsor, but I don't think so now.

He's got his own style of play and how he wants the players to be; which certainly seems successful enough at this level, you can't deny what he's done (and not on huge budgets) at both Beaconsfield and Burnham. And from the players I've spoken to he's popular and a good leader.

But this isn't how Windsor are playing at the moment, and from what I hear isn't Slough's style either: so would he bother trying to move, if most of the players who are making each of our teams successful wouldn't do so well under his management? What else would he bring? Unlike at Burnham most of the players he might bring with him wouldn't be new to us or you ... And Jarvo's no fool at all, he wants to show he can take a team up, so I think he'll stick more to teams not doing so well where he can make his mark, mold the team more in his own preferred image, rather than try and ride someone else's success.

I do think he's a good manager, at our level at least and with experience he'll probably manage a level or three higher. But I don't see him taking the reins at Slough, or indeed Windsor, unless one sees a major falling-off in form and the club wants a different approach.

Plus if he does take Burnham up this season, why would he want to move? At best we might be at the same level (I hope so or my wife will claim get major bragging rights...). And if Burnham aren't promoted, whether or not we go up, why would either of our clubs especially want him before other possible candidates - wouldn't we go for someone who had done better at this level, given the choice, rather than another manager who'd done no better than what we already have?

Jealousy will get you nowhere Jarvis.

If your Burnham team were 'that good' then you wouldnt need to play these stupid games but clearly they have weaknesses and you feel threatened by Slough. Almost as if you bear a grudge but is it not you along with Leach and a few others that milked this club for its money then [****!!****] off. Well I hope Burnham fail to get promoted this year as I think that the four other teams in the top five wikll do much better in the division above......... oooooooh mind games

Jarvis and the Slough Observer are made for each other, what with both of them being of the poorest quality !

Mind games afoot for sure ! and the article is stirring things.....

I get increasingly worried about comments like Slough's huge budgets and money !

How do these people know ? The only 2 that should know and quite rightly so are the Chairman and The Team Manager !

If players talk amongst them selves they will always say they get more...

Having been around the Beaconsfield directors , i know for sure he had quite a decent budget last season and over did it ! so then when

he moved to Burnham and the promises of more money from the new directors, certainly will put him upto a decent budget too...so why is he not winning

the league ?? too.....Total mind games....

As most of our supporters have said a top half finish will be great , after all the previous season disapointments.

up the Rebels...

I would say Burnhams budget is only bettered by Hitchin, who, besides having the best attendances, are also funded by their supporters with direct debit contributions in their efforts to attract the quality of players neccesary to win the division.

A top half finish was most supporters pre and early season hopes but as the season's progressed I think that has changed to a play-off place.

Awww bless him, he's obviously well aware that his lot are not going to be top 6 and is trying to put pressure elsewhere/ Ascommented above i think EVERYONE i have regularly taked to behind the goal has said that Hitchin are firm faves for the league.

MAybe he's hoping that some Slough fans turn up to give him jip at homes games... them their attendence may even reach THREE FIGURES!!!!!

Brilliant comment from Bateman in this weeks Express in response to Jarvis' remarks.

“One of the issues we don’t have at our club though is ill discipline so we’re not without up to three or four players a game.”

Steve Bateman's comments are fact as opposed to the comments from Jarvis which are utter B#llocks solely aimed at trying to wind us up.

From his time at Windsor and playing against us he was a thug and his tactics at Burnham and Beaconsfield reflect this. He tries to wind everyone up and when he is found out and his team starts to fail it will all fall apart and he'll probably go off to Flackwell or somewhere equally keen to secure his services and band of players, assuming there is enough money there of course.

As for the comments about you not winning the league, I would have thought any Slough fan offered a play off place at the beginning of the season would have bitten that hand off. Now it looks a serious reality you must be quite pleased how it has turned out.

I guess a long way to go yet though, anything could happen......
