Boxing Day v Canvey Island - Help required

As we all know, the weather has been more than a contributing factor in the postponement of most of the Ryman League games last Saturday. Looking at the weather for the coming week, it's uncertain what we will get but we still have to try and get the pitch ready for Saturady's game against Canvey Island.

 

Talking to Mick Nixon yesterday, help is required down the ground all this week, if people are available. The plan is to clear the snow and and put covers down. So if anyone has packed up work for the week and can come down the club to help, it would be much appreciated. If you can come down, please make it after 10 and see Mick Nixon (he will probably be on the pitch).

 

This leaves Boxing Day itself. I fully appreciate that people have things to do on Boxing Day but there is thought to be a requirement to have people down the ground helping on the pitch on the day. If you can spare some time before the game, please make yourself available. You can either contact Mick at the club or myself through this website (PM me)...or, if you wish to surprise us all, turn up...it would be nice to know if you're coming but you won't be turned away if you do turn up.

 

It's not just the pitch that requires work, it's the supporters area as well because, at present, it's icy and dangereous. We do need to get these areas sorted for safety reasons.

 

If you do help out either this week or on Boxing Day, please bring a broom, a spade and a wheelbarrow (if you have one).

I will try and get down tomorrow, but I don't have a wheel barrow. I will give the club a ring beforehand. I might be able to spare another few hours on Wednesday or Thursday as well and bring my eldest daughter.

A wheelbarrow is not essential...a broom and a spade may well be.
