Ok so it seems we have a very good team again this season. If we could compare this team with teams from the whole of the Denton era how do you think they would compare. Here would be my starting eleven:

LB: Danny Murphy

RB: Josias Carbon

CB: Steve Daly

CB: Nathan Bowden- Haase

RM: Steve Sinclair

LM: Alex Haddow

CM: Darron Wilkinson

AM: Garath Mcleary

FW: Tony Boot

FW: Ian Hodges

 

Ok so I only have 3 players from the current squad in there but I may be biased based on the success under Denton. What does everyone think??

Sadly NONE of those you mentioned would get in a combined side from the late 60's and early 70's.

The heading of the topic is Team now Team then,so I gathered that all teams were up for discussion.Just because you set your standards low, doesn't mean we all have too.From some of your other posts awhile back I wonder if you have any idea what a top notch Non League player looks like.

The majority of that side comes from the sides of 2005-2006 & 206-2007. I think it's totally unfair to judge the majority of the 2005-2007 side with now as this team has only been together half a season.

 

Plus the fact that side was very good. In that period we got 'promoted', beat Walsall, got through to the FA Cup 2nd round and won the Bryco cup. It was an excellent side over a long period and the current side has not been together for long.

Hotspur - how many players from the 05-06-07 teams will be playing in tomorrows game? - none - so they have no relavance to the current team or the result tomorrow.

 

Or has the leauge changed the rules so we can count results from 5 years ago in the points tally for this season?

 

And as I have said before the best group of players dont always make the best team.

The only changes I'd make to your team would be Jake Whincup for Allaway and Simon Sweeney for Josias Carbon.
