According to the obsever the Burnham boss wants us all to go and support them?!

BURNHAM boss Jim Greenwood has once again offered an invitation to Slough Town fans to come and support the Blues next term.

Greenwood says he feels sorry for the supporters of the stricken Rebels and says they would be welcome with open arms at The Gore next season. Greenwood said: “It’s a shame what is going on down there. I really feel for the supporters.”

Could be an interesting proposition:

They have their own ground - the pitch has just been relaid in a new position with irrigation, new floodlights and they are just starting on building the new stand.

They have a team with the same manager as last season, and some old Slough Players, Honey, Bartley, playing at the same level as Slough in the pyramid. Their leading scorer last season came through the junior teams.

They are running a reserve team for next season in the Suburban League North Division .

They are running a new youth team in Allied Counties league for next season.

They run teams for little lads (and lasses) of various ages and are developing a community scheme. The little lads teams at the grounds at the Cherry Orchard seem to attract good support, from what I have seen when I go for a walk on a Sunday.

You may not want to support them, but I wish Slough was in that position instead of:

No Ground;

No Manager;

No Team? Does anybody know?

An owner who may or may not have resigned and may or may not have any money, and if he has is not sure whether to invest.

Debts;

A council which does not give a toss;

No Reserves;

No Youth team;

No roots in junior football.

Incidentally, FRUS Ltd is still going according to the Companies House Website and have posted some results, although are still behind. Slough Town Football Club Limited has been dissolved as a company- I thought Mr Deaner said at the meeting this was to be the new vehicle for Slough - interesting message, n'est pas! I hope that is not the way things are going, but really, the fans don't seem to be any different position to what we were on the last day of last season - so that's what is meant by progress in the local paper. Better get the supporters team signing Ryman Forms - it may be all there is left!
