Daily Echo review of WEFC v Totton game

Well, I was just passed a copy of he Daily Echo for Totton's area and was surprised to read the review. To give you some quotes

"We watched Windsor twice and we knew we were better than them coming into this game and I still think we are" - Really? Must have got the result wrong then

"Windsor are top for a reason-they grind out results but. But i don't think they've got much more than that" Still showing us respect then?

"All round we're a better side than Windsor and it'll be an injustice on our part if they win the league" Pass the sour grapes someone...

"For 45 minutes we dominated a team who are top of the league and unbeaten. We totally outplayed them" Hmmmm....

"All that changed on 84 minutes, however, when, following a fatal lapse in the Totton defence, Wilson's hopeful, long ball put Osobu in the clear.." So not a quality ball that beat the defence or any good play by Windsor at all?

It goes on basically saying that Totton are magnificant and Windsor are an average battling team at best.

I guess we shall see come May

Perhaps after you've seen us play recently you can comment you said you was at the Paulton game but we've improved since then.. After all with your park football AND berkshire schools history you have such a deep and wonderful insight into the game! I'm geniunly susprised you've not got a spot on the local paper after all i thought they'd be desperate to get someone of your knowlage on board!

Fuzzy perhaps you can pass the paper over to Keith Scott who can put it on the dressing room wall. That'll be his job done for him!

Personaly i think he's right in that they were the better footballing side on the day but we went into it with a gameplan and it worked. Not much point watching a side and not noticing their strengths and weaknesses very well is there as that was a typical Windsor counter attack goal! However the team that plays 'sexy' football doesnt always do well. Just look at Arsenal compaired to chelsea's strong at the back, until recently, approach!

Obviously your Slough Boys Combination experience makes you a strong contender as a football guru. As for the local paper, you have no chance with your literary skills:

knowlage? = knowledge

geniunly ?= genuinely

compaired?? = compared

Its all too easy for me Woody

So if Scotty says we are better (with vastly more experience) then we are? Argument doesn't wash.

All i am pointing out is the lack of any dignity or sign of a gracious defeat. As woody said, its not about beautiful football all the time and we all know Totton are a good side, but they are starting to sound like the spoilt little rich kid who isn't getting his own way. It was a tight, fast, hard game with two teams playing at the top of their game. Tactics ultimately won out for Windsor with Bruce's "hopeful lob" and Victor's surely lucky finish if he hasn't really got any ability.

I hope the fans who came to Windsor, who were very gracious in defeat and wished us well without moaning that they were the better team, and accepted the defeat enjoy the rest of the season. Not too much, a play off win will do, but they were a credit to their club.

Will pass it to Scotty when i see him next, be a great way to gee up the team and get them in the right mood. Especially with a tough game at Frome Saturday

Agree 100% they were fantastic. Shame more fans couldnt be a credit to their club! They know who they are...They'll be reading this from their ivory tower right now!

If you are looking for lack of dignity or sign of a gracious defeat, what did Humpty Dumpty put on the Bracknell site? pot, kettle, black.

To be fair what do you expect?? The Totton manager made a rod for his own back the minute he opened his mouth before the game and slagged us off.

After what he said before the game he would look a right [****!!****] if he came out and said "oh actually I was talking out of my backside, they are better than I thought they were".

Granted he still looks an [****!!****] but it’s been entirely of his own making.

Vast difference between a manager and a fan and to be honest what Humpty put was pretty fair if slightly wrong in tone. Even the worst slough side would of beat Bracknell WR. It was more one sided than the a fight between Spud vs whoever buys the Stag and Hounds to turn it into housing!

As I told you before the game Woody, a cricket score (or could have been), and you still say I know nothing about football?

Cricket score? 6-0!? What test was you at!?

And it takes a person of such insight to say Windsor are going to beat a very very very poor bracknell side! WOW!

Ever thought of becoming a manger?

WR, I guess it is down to opinions, but Bracknell were stating that the game was close, it wasn't even nearly close. Think Players vs Supporters when the supporters can't even get their strongest 11 up. They were very very very poor and i defy anyone who was actually at the game to deny that. I think there is a phrase about not being able to polish a t**d, it applied in this case. The only praise you could give them was their keeper, and he gots it in bucketloads so don't say we don't give praise where due.

Mrs Cat, he is just pouring petrol on the fire he accidentally started in his own living room, we can only hope that he keeps feeding it and come may Totton's title hopes have burnt down.

Malc, if there I will pass on to you

Woody: I have seen Bracknell a few times this season, so I knew how poor they were, thats what I based my opinion on. And if i was a manager i would certainly be able

to pull in more football experience than you will ever have.

I was not gracious in defeat because we won.

I wrote what i did on the forum as a reaction to what the original poster put in the first place. Are we not allowed to defend ourselves?

After reading it back it may have sounded a bit harsh but that's just me. I just write what comes into my head and not the way I am saying it.

I am not one for attacking other teams I am quite an objective person whether we win or lose.

Plus I will have my opinion whether people like it or not it's all part of the banter.

Your comments showed a lack of respect to a club with obvious difficulties both on and off the field, whether you like it or not.

Like I said "I will have my opinion whether people like it or not it's all part of the banter"

Maybe you are right I did show a certain lack of respect for the club but to be honest I don't really care about them at all because I support Windsor and Eton Football Club.

If the shoe was on the other foot I am sure they would have re-acted the same should I have put the original comment on that forum.
