Did anybody see the article in the Non League paper on Sunday about Chalfont St Peter's plight. I really think common sense should prevail in circumstances such as this:

Unpaid Fine May Damage Saints

Chalfont St Peter are facing a heavy penalty because a £33 fine went unpaid.

The Saints were told by the Berkshire and Buckinghamshire FA at 3pm on the Friday before last week's SSML Premier game with Hanwell Town that they were suspended and that the game could not go ahead.

A youth team player, who has now left the Club, incurred the fine and failed to send a signed letter to the FA, without which the matter could not be resolved.

Secretary John Carroll said "the first we heard was the day before the game, then we couldn't pay the fine because the local FA office were out on a Christmas do".

The fine has now been paid and the suspension lifted but the Club could be fined up to £250 by their League, the maximum amount for the offence.

League General Secretary Martyn Mitchell said "i can't tell you what action will be taken but the Club will be charged for failing to fulfil a League fixture".

Any punishment will be compounded by the Reserve team being unable to complete their own fixture and two of the Club's youth sides being kicked out of respective cups.
