Bognor Regis Town 3-3 Margate

Isthmian Premier

Admission: £10

Programme: £1.50

Tea: 80p

Attendance: 316

Headed south and called round to confirm a game was on. First choice was Lancing (4-3 in the end), but no reply there. Second up was Bognor.

Cover round three sides of the ground, charging an extra £1 to go into the main stand on the half way line. New clubhouse is very spacious, though looks a bit characterless. though certainly looks good if there is a large event on.

Game itself started very poorly, with the home side in particular not making very much of their attacks. Margate had less possession but always looked more likely to score and eventually went 1-0 up from a corner where Bognor had left someone unmarked.

Much better after the break. They could have increased the lead early in the second half before Bognor finally managed to score though a sub just introduced. Suddenly from not scoring they managed a couple more in the next 20 minutes to go 3-1 up. Quickly 3-2 and Margate had the better of the final few minutes, equalising in injury time (and had a slight chance at winning it to).

Why are there no comments on here about Lloyd's brilliant goal on Saturday? It was the best he has scored for us.

Why are there no comments on here about Wayne's dead ball deliveries that are resulting in goals?

Well to answer my own questions they probally are positives and not negatives we seem to prefer to criticise rather than appalaud on this forum.

Good post Jim. Lloyd takes some stick but the positive for me is that he has already scored as many goals as our top scorer did all of last season, plus, as Mike said, he does run his socks off for the team.

Wayne, IMO, is starting to produce the football we all know he was capable off and well done to him (Partly helped, I feel, by Dan Stubbs taking a lot of the donkey work off him since he came to us).

Spot on with these two. Lloyd's 9 goals in 16 league games is better than most in the division and Wayne has gradually improved throughout the season and particularly since Danny Stubbs has been back, who has been also been excellent for us.

I tell you, with Louis Smith and Danny Young coming back in the new year, it'll get better and better!

Wasn't there Saturday so can't comment on individual performances so thanks for the details concerning these two in particular.

I have always liked the workrate of Lloyd & I can always see a good effort on goal coming from him whenever he gets the space with the ball.

Agree about Wayne too. Still a little careless & rushed with a few of his passes in midfield when I've seen him (dead balls no complaints) but yes,all things taken into consideration he has improved his game after a mediocre start to the season.

With Danny Young back, I like others am POSITIVE we'll see a much tighter back line & oh how that is so needed back there.

At risk of a load of abuse from certain parties I feel MB as made progress. IF, I had been a neutral, I would have left Bognor feeling I had been very well entertained. OK there were mistakes, failed passes missed sitters from both sides, this is what makes games exciting, entertaining. It is frustrating to throw winning positions away. we are short of 3 players to make it work, most of all we miss that old head in central defence. I am certain MB &SB will sort it out but, I hope without losing the entertainment. Both results and entertainment fill stadiums. As for the heckling, it made Lloyd angry and though I do not condone it he certainly upped the effort and it was followed by his goal
