Slough Town 2-2 Romulus

Bad tempered match where we were twice behind and came back to force a draw.

You can see why Romulus have had some good results of late, not a pretty side to watch but a strong, physical side who play for set pieces and play balls to two quick forwards. Reminded me very much of Maidenhead United a few years back under Devonshire. I think they will cause other teams in the play-off positions problems as well.

Overall not a bad point I feel and a point was probably around fair.

A bad tempered match because the ref had no control of the game what so ever. There have been some bad referee's and linesman in this league, but the ones we had today took the biscuit.

Should have booked their number 10 at the same point he booked NBH. Murphy received an elbow to the throat in the 1st half which went unpunished on top of numerous other occasions he let clear, obvious and in some cases dangerous tackles go unpunished.

Romulus are the Stoke of this league.

Thought we were lucky to get a point as at times as our defending was awful, the midfield was weak, and we lacked fight.

Usually we have one strong half, but today neither half was impressive.

Kean was a waste of space on the pitch and I am surprissed he makes the team.

However Martin (who I have questioned) had a good game today chasing balls down, putting in challenges, delivering balls, along with a goal.

With the weak midfield why dont we play 3 up front i.e. Martin, Sonner, and Buchanan as this is an area whre we are strong and will cause other teams problems - the best form of defence is attack?

As for the handbags in the tunnel - this was the outcome of the poor control on the pitch by the ref who did not have a clue - and then the idiot blew his wistle thinking it would help!!!! The level of officials at this level is getting worse as has been seen yet again today.

Yes, a very bad niggly game in which I always thought there would be a red card. The player involved with NBH should have gone a few minutes before Nathan was booked. Thought Sonner worked hard but missed a couple of chances today whereas Martin who I thought was poor first half had a very good second. Unbelievable that our midfield issues aren't getting fixed as again we were totally bossed today by a visiting team. Steve Bateman apparently doesn't agree that we need a more defensive midfielder but must be the only person that thinks that?!

Didn't see the handbags at the end but not at all surprised. I thought they were a nasty side that looked for trouble. Overall that's a point gained as I didn't think we deserved either equaliser.

A team of thugs who were allowed to carry on in the same vain by a referee who was the worst of the worst how Kean didn't end up with a serious injury nobody knows the no 10 should have been sent off for his use of the elbow and the no 9's antic's were questionable the no 10 surprise surprise was also the player who caused the trouble in the tunnel afterwards and I doubt if the league will be brave enough to deal with him. The ref should not be aloud back and hopefully the assessor at the game will deal with him as well as the linesman who has to be accountable. Its a shame that the officials are allowed to get away with this but you know nothing will happen to Romulus or the officials

I thought that we played poorly today, not our worst match, and we were lucky not to have lost. In the first half they scored from there first real attack which most teams seem to be doing against us.

we where lucky at times not to get any one sent off and finish with 11 men.

the referee had no control over the match and made some absolutely shocking decisions and never stamped his authority on the match so i wasn't really surprised there was a fight at the end of the match as it was clear that some players left the pitch feeling very annoyed at the referee an his decisions.

we were also lucky not to conceed more goals as for the majority of the second half we basically had no defence. It also doesn't help that when NBH goes up for a corner or free kick he takes an age to get back to his centre back position which often means we are short on players we they conter.

I have to say that Sean Sonner and Simon Martin worked there socks off chasing the defenders to put them under pressure. Sonner though should have scored especially in the second half when he clearly beat the keeper and for some reason didn't really shoot. Martin was clearly the man of the match for me, he worked hard all day putting pressure on the defence, challenging for headers and scoring a very good goal in the bottom corner.

Contray to everyone's wish I did not die in the Tunnel handbag throwing competion !... (behave I heard you all...)

To be honest - I did manage to get between the players, however most of the handbags had been thrown by then...

The ref IMO, he just did not get control of a bad tempered match, this was a deffiinate ploy

by Romulas , thats for sure...and they got at Slough's achillies heal and we let them ...niggled us...and we re-acted.

Have to disagree on some of the points made.

By playing 3 up front will weaken the midfield even more.

I thought Robbie Kean did ok today.

Martin did ok today (still doesn't win the ball enough in the air) but seems to end up in the left channel and cannot deliver a cross so why he goes there I don't know?

Not sure we were 'lucky to get a point' the first goal was a far post free header, the second goal stemmed from Dwain Clarke giving the ball away and if Sean Sonner had scored one of the two one on ones he had we would have won the game.

I,too thought Robbie Kean was good but Slough ,in general, were lack lustre and too many players had an off day, today. I thought had Slough been firing on all cylinders,we would have beaten Romulus, who to me,wasn't as good as their reputation/form suggested.

I think Steve Bateman should make a few changes for the Bedworth game, mainly to shake up some of the players who are getting complacent.I would drop Perks,Murphy and Edgeworth to the bench, just for one or two games,to liven them up a bit.Murphy,in particular has looked shaky in the last three games although for me,most of the season so far,he's been excellent.Jacko,Fenton and Dean Clark replacing them.

Ricky Perks didn't have one of his better games and both goals, while not directly his fault,he could have done better on.That's the beauty of having a squad like we've got this year, that we've got quality cover for every position.

As for Paul Edgeworth,he's just not been at his best of late and with Dean Clark now added, what a perfect time to give Edgy some stiff competition for his regular place.

Thought SB should have made substitutions earlier,as we just weren't playing well.To me,it's two points dropped not one point gained.

It seemed glaringly obvious that Sean Sonner just wasn't getting the rub of the green and to leave Elliot Buchanan on the bench for as long as Steve did,was frankly daft ! Must admit I didn't think Chris Herron was playing that well and would have probably have taken him off rather than Dwain Clarke,if I had been the manager,so what do I know ! because he got a fine goal/equaliser for us,at the end.

As for the referee,I thought he was playing for Romulus first half ! and was whistle happy at totally innocuous times and let proper fouls/incidents go on ie Romulus player's head injury [purely accidental but game should have been stopped]. A very poor official indeed.

Martin fully deserves to be MoM. one of if not his best game for us. since returning from injury he seems to have played better

ref could have prevented a lot of trouble had he calmed down the players who were getting involved in petty arguments in the 1st half i.e NBH and their 10 mostly

as said Kean was lucky to still be able to stand by full time the amount of times they booted him and yet mostly this was ignored by the ref

glad we got a point but really should have stopped both of their goals. silly easily preventable goals both of them

none of us really know what happened in the tunnel area but well done to Ricky Perks for doing the right thing and getting away from it and cooling down. last game of season could be feisty now

The good news is that we seem to be getting detached in a group of 5 at the top of the division, which if we can hold it together puts us in the play offs.

Hitchin appear to be the best team, followed by Bury, Burnham, Chesham and then us. We could move up this list if we can get some consistency.

We spend time winning at home and being hopeless away and then we swop over.

My concern is that many Slough players get the ball and their first thought appears to be to pass it backwards. Kean is the master of this, he only seems to go forward if there is no other option. Herron is not far behind him in this, with Sweeney a respectable third. I also worry about NBH. No-one doubts he's a good player, but I'm concerened that he's getting dragged down to Zamaretto Midlands standard rather than being above it. He's certainly not the player he was two months ago.

But we've only dreamt of being in the top 5 for many seasons now, so let's enjoy it while we can. Imagine if we supported Kings Lynn.

I thought it was a fair result in the end against a well organised Romulus. MOM was indeed Simon Martin, and i was not overly impressed with Dwaine Clark, although to his credit he is

the new boy so hopefully he is still finding his feet. Thought their No .4 put in a good shift as well. I wonder what time they got home, or are indeed still travelling as it is light years away.
