Averlee 4 Blues 2

In the grand scheme of things not too disappointed to go out this competition, altho the performance was somewhat flat despite bossing much of the game. Mix 'n' match side with debuts for Lockyer in goal and Cleaver up front. Dumas completed 90 minutes as did Osbourne. More significantly, Pond is now available for Saturday. Bricknell needs some competition up front to give him a jolt as he's way off the pace at the moment. The game had the feel of a 'dead rubber' but at least those mugs from Chelmsford Town have been spared a battering.

Roll on Rushden

Agree, hardly devestation at being knocked out of this competition, given our pressing need to get some league games played, but I was disappointed that some of the players with arguably most to gain failed to take an opportunity to impress the management.

With BWG going back, Bricknell "misfiring" and Baker banned one can only hope we've got someone lined up in that area.

Looking foward to Saturday and beyond and hopefully a swift return to winning ways.

Come on you Blues!!

If taking part has such a negative response from both team and some supporters then why bother entering these competitions in the first place?

My post will more than likely get deleted again but what a piss take charging £3 a pint in the back of beyonds with the one and only flashing christmas light (or was it a faulty starter?)

We looked good going into the game but the Averrrrrleyyyy guys Wanted it more and a well deserved win for them was the outcome. It hurt to walk away with only a few (in my opinion) wanting to take this game.

Bring it on in R&D's

BB, strange though it may seem but I agree with your first point. I was disapointed about going out of a competition which the club has a good history in.

I just can't fathom some people's attitude at times, players and supporters. I'm sure the club doesn't enter these competitions just to be knocked out and you would've thought a chance of some silverware would be a motivator...or even for a player to ply his trade to show Brian what he can do and give him choices (or at least a selection issue - in the best possible way). Alas, not for this season in this particular competition.

As for the game, whereas we dominated for part of the game, our striking options are becoming one dimensional with what looked like a lack of effort from one particular player (and that is becoming typical for his season IMO). I hope he proves me wrong and scores a goal a game for the rest of the season but without the competition for that position at the moment, I can't see it.

Still onwards to Rushden. Lets enjoy the day.
