.. I wonder if he who rubber stamped this got some roddage when he gave it the seal of approval?

Maidenhead United`s Blue Square South game against Braintree Town has been called off due to an arcane ruling by the Essex FA.

On Sunday morning club secretary Ken Chandler was informed that the Iron have been ordered by the Essex FA to play their Essex Senior Cup tie against Hullbridge Sports on Tuesday night.

Braintree were more than willing to comply by fielding their reserves in the tie so that the first-team could travel to York Road, or moving the tie to Monday or Wednesday night. However, the offer of flexibility was met by the obdurate wall of bureaucracy and with the threat of a draconian fine hanging over the Essex club they were faced with no option but to request a postponement of the Blue Square South match.

Apologies if this has been previously mentioned.

The county f.a can not force a club to play a first team and as it proves they still sent down the team that would of played anyway, i feel for the people of Braintree as i have some good mates there. They should of let them play Maidenhead and the Reserves / Youths play at Hullbridge, they let Grays, Dag&Red, Colu, Southend so why not Braintree. Very unfair.
