Tiptree United 3 Beckenham Town 1

Managed to get to Maldon well early by bus from Chelmsford, and it proved out to be

a good decision due to the chaos in the Witham area due to signalling problems.

Maldon looked a nice place itself and the ground is a little on the sparse side.

 

How Beckenham never won is still beyond me after the dominated the first half,scoring

from a corner with a thumping header before Tiptree were thrown a lifeline with a last

minute penalty just before the break, but Beckenham should have been well clear by then.

 

Sure enough,Tiptree went ahead 3-1 before a dreadful 22man scuffle following a bad challenge

on a Tiptree player,the referee blew like mad to try and stop the carnage with his 2 linos,but the

ensuing mess took 5 mins to sort out and the result was 2 reds for Becks and 1 for the jam-makers.

Unfortunately 4 fans also managed to get involved after jumping the fence which may land the club

in trouble.

When play started again,another melee started,this time between the two benches, but was soon sorted

and three elderly gents close to me had enough and walked out disgusted.

We then got playing again and it was great stuff as Beckenham attacked as if their lives depended on it,

some excellent play from them ensued as they bundled the ball home after a scramble,but couldn't

manage an equaliser in a second half that lasted 61 mins !

Really entertaining game in the second half(fracas' excepted) and how Beckenham didn't win this one

must be causing them nightmares tonight.

Glad to get back to Liv St after ensuing some more signalling chaos from earlier on !
