Amanda Knox - Guilty or Innocent

Recommended Posts

Isn't it all rather old news that her parents are in so much debt Rhodesy? Doing your bit for re-cycling I expect.

Hang on a mo. Didn't you want to leave all this? Nah, you just meant everyone else........

why don't we just leave it at that and allow the poor girl to pick up the pieces and get on with the rest of her life.

Apparently Italian prosecutors have until the 16th February to lodge an appeal against Knox's acquittal for the murder of Meredith Kercher. I wonder if they will wait until the that day to keep Amanda sweating bullets.

Meanwhile Knox's parents will be facing trial in Italy on slander charges on March 30th.

A literary firm called Martin Literary Management have landed a coup and signed a book deal with Raffaele Sollecito, the book will be ‘a memoir’ that includes several aspects of Sollecito's life in addition to his four year prison nightmare in Perugia and is sure to be a lucrative best seller. His agent Sharlene Martin said she always believed that Sollecito and Amanda Knox were totally innocent and is delighted with the deal which should set her client up for the rest of his life.

Here's a fascinating article folks, Amanda's experience in Perugia brought home many examples of the corruption and good in our global society, this unique and well written article summarises some of that and comes to the conclusion that her plight in Italy was not all in vain:

  • 2 weeks later...

Here we go folks, I see that Amanda's Italian lawyer Carlo Dalla Vedova has finally filed an appeal against her slandering of Patrick Lumumba, Amanda's family Solicitor Dave Marriott confirmed that an appeal over the slander conviction was filed last week but he did not know when the Italian Court might be in a position to consider it:

I may or may not have posted this 'Friends of Amanda Knox' link previously however if I have it's worth posting again to show the inspirational support Amanda had back home throughout her horrendus ordeal which is thankfully now all over and she can get on with her life despite losing four of the best years:

I see that Amanda is very close to signing a lucrative book deal which will pay off all her families outstanding legal bills in one fell swoop, creditors have stayed helpfully patient knowing full well that a deal was on the cards and they will naturally be paid off in full once a seven figure cheque lands in Amanda's bank account:

I don't think that the Italian government have an extradition agreement with the Americans, unfortunately.

It seems odd to me that the British government are quite happy to send UK citizens to America to stand trial for doing something on British soil that is not illegal here, and yet its highly unlikely that the USA will send Knox back to Italy to answer a charge of murdering a British subject. Hypocrisy or what?

However Italy enjoys a reciprocal extradition treaty with the US. If the Supreme Court order a retrial she'll be on the plane rapidamente!

Loosely - Gary McKinnon springs to mind whereby we supposedly have an extradition treaty with the US, they're not worth the paper they're written on

I expect there'll be the odd mafia guy hiding from the IRS back home with mamma that the Italians would swap for her!

The process could take years Horace but inevitably if the Supreme Court order a retrial the US Government can't say no they can only delay but the system is remorseless. How the treaty is set up is that if the US wants an Italian citizen there's no argument, likewise with the other way round since as you so obviously point out there are strong historical ties and definite need for cooperation. I'm afraid that Cliffy can squeal all he wants but you don't have treaties for nothing.

No wonder Loosely is quiet today with Amanda having signed a multi million dollar book deal, there is even talk of her giving some of the proceeds from the book, which is a guaranteed best seller, to Meredith Kercher's family to donate to a Charity of their choice however it is still early days:

Yes I saw this Rhodesy, it's a few days old news now but don't you think it's disgraceful that 'Manda has been out on the town celebrating while her Granny is now living on the breadline after going $1/4m into debt to help?

I just hope that 'Manda remembers to put some by for the next two trials, that won't come cheap and her family are all tapped out.
