Amanda Knox - Guilty or Innocent

Recommended Posts

Loosely - In Italy a complicated, unlikely crime scenario such as this one involving our heroine is much preferred to a straightforward one, the Courts are untouchable and provide a counterbalance to corruptible and frequently changing Governments. Just to recap, Amanda and Sollecito were convicted in 2009 and rightly acquitted on appeal in 2011, in 2013 however the Italian Supreme Court overturned the acquittal and ordered a fresh appeal at which it demanded that a guilty verdict be reinstated, following a brief 'kangaroo' trial the Appeal Court happily complied. Respected American commentator Tom Zupancic commented ‘the take home message is that this Court never had any intention whatsoever of providing a fair and impartial appeal trial where “reasonable doubt” could be a factor, rather, it was simply a judicial formality, a staged exercise to provide a format to announce a predetermined decision'. I rest my case.

Loosely - Why don't you just comment on the informative article, like I said the victim could have quite easily been our heroine herself couldn't it had Amanda returned to the flat that fateful day instead of Meredith

Any news on those comparative US statistics yet Rhodesly?

Loosely - Please read the link below if you will and look at the angelic photos of Amanda, then say honestly for once in your life whether our heroine is capable of swatting a fly let alone murdering Meredith Kercher:

Loosely - Just for your information, incase you are not already aware, Juries in Italy are not sequestered so they follow the case through biased media coverage as well as in Court. Incredibly they are encouraged to read as widely as possible making Court attendance almost a distraction from wall to wall newspaper and internet coverage, Jurors who have ‘researched’ cases on-line in this way have been unceremoniously sent to prison in the UK. The question of how far media intervention affected the Jury in Amanda and Raffaele's laughable re-trial was answered by the Judge the day after the verdict, he readily admitted that the Jurors discussed the case daily with their family and friends when they went home at night. Whilst at home they were bombarded with information, in other words unverified gossip printed in tabloids and obviously not presented in Court. Like I say, I rest my case.

And like I say she is and was found GUILTY

By the Judiciary of a Sovereign Nation, a member of Nato and the UN, also of the EEC.

I note that we are still awaiting comments from Rhodesly on those US statistics. Etc., Etc..

Loosely - Furthermore Italy’s use of so-called low-copy DNA evidence in this case has shocked the scientific World. Incompetent technicians tested contaminated samples by overriding machine controls in a dirty back street lab that was certainly not of the required standard for this type of high profile work. In Amanda and Sollecito’s first appeal, independent experts called in by Judge Hellmann at great expense demolished this bogus DNA evidence and laughed it out of Court, the Italian Supreme Court however dismissed the experts testimony, reinstated the flawed evidence and, demonstrating no understanding of science whatsoever, demanded that contamination be ‘proved’ by the defence. What a way to carry on!

And while wait for Rhodesly to answer questions politely put to him while ignoring fresh ignorant demands from him...

More details are coming out about Amanda Knox's involvement with hard drug dealers in Italy, making it harder and harder to swallow the homogenized "girl next door" story the PR driven American media pushes. One of the cocaine dealers reportedly connected to Knox has made comments that seem to implicate the woman in the murder of Meredith Kercher -- which wouldn't at all be surprising at this point.

Loosely – Needless to say Advocates from our own green and pleasant land and the land of the free are shocked to the core by what their legal colleagues in Italy are allowed to do and get away with. Disproved evidence is re-introduced and re-hashed in subsequent hearings as ‘fact’ as if it is still valid, invented scenarios are presented to the Court complete with imagined conversations, as if they represent what actually took place. Key witnesses, such as Meredith’s convicted killer Rudy Guede, are not even cross-examined at the trial of those who are alleged to be his co-conspirators in the murder. In the first trial for example, a laughable 20-minute computer-generated cartoon film of the prosecution’s view of the murder scenario was shown as if it was a credible reconstruction of the crime, it apparently cost $182,000 to make and the cost was billed to the defendants, it was not placed in the trial record and has never been seen since.

Do you have a view or are you just going to bury your head in the sand as usual.

IF that turns out to be accurate then that's going to be very damning and puts a whole new spin on the case.

The link is definitely there, that has been confirmed by the dealers. Knox was under pressure to pay her debts.

Loosely - That's utter nonsense!

The laughable reversal of the 2011 acquittal was even criticised by learned Judge Hellmann who presided over it because the Supreme Court meddled with the facts of the case rather than carrying out its constitutional role of simply ensuring that correct procedures were followed, because they knew full well that Hellmann was straight down the line they specifically requested a new Judge for the re-trial, Nencini, who un-surprisingly delivered guilty verdicts. The Supreme Court’s judgement is further compromised by its attempt to reconcile the already confirmed verdict against Rudy Guede, which stated that he acted with others, Hellmann’s view was that Guede acted alone and in any case definitely acted without Amanda and Sollecito.

I must say Rhodesly that I'm very surprised that you've got the time to post while you're looking up all that info on US statistics on miscarriages of justice.

I don't know whether anybody has been following this story on the news and in the press but Knox's family, who have spent some £750,000 fighting the case, seemed absolutely certain she would be found not guilty on Friday and had even booked her on a flight back to Seattle. The US is apparently up in arms this weekend and people even believe the verdict is sweet revenge for the executions of Nicola Sacco and Bartolomeo Vanzetti in 1927 and question whether anti-Americanism tainted the trial. Alegedly the prosecution did not present enough evidence for an impartial jury to conclude beyond any reasonable doubt that Knox was guilty of Meredith Kercher's murder and the Italian jurors were not sequestered and were freely allowed to view highly negative news coverage about Knox. Another question mark against the Italian justice system is pending charges of misconduct against one of the acting prosecutors originating from another murder trial.

Cup of Tea - This was the first post made by myself on this thread on 6 December 2009, nearly five years down the line and we're no further forward are we other than, thankfully, Amanda is home in Seattle where she belongs in the bosom of her doting family and beloved friends

Oh yes we are - she is and was found GUILTY and decided to run away and hide back in America.

An innocent person would have stood their ground and fought their case and not flee
