How will it end up?

Recommended Posts

I can't recall an Essex Senior league so unpredictable like this year. :511: I went to watch Burnham Ramblers-Stansted today and i expected the table topplers to give a demonstration of strength and silence every detractors up.

Instead i witnessed a great display of solidity and good football from Terry Spillane's Stanstead side. The airport men, apart 15 m into the first half, ran completely the show and in the end i think many will agree, the result flattered Burnham.Dan Cornwell bragged a brace after his side went 1-0 down courtesy of a 12m goal from Burnham right winger Lewis Wilkin.Burnham finished the game with 10 players following Nathan Sharpe sending off on 75 m and Pethers had to go right wing with an hamstring injury after Burnham had already used all 3 substitutions.Stansted had a goal ruled out for offside(a la Witham...same lino!!!) and Burnham complained about a ball crossing the line but to be honest Stansted missed quite a few chanches to increase the lead.

In all a well fought game and chatting to other managers i have been asked why the Hullbridge postponement and obviously i told them because the pitch was waterlogged...i couldn't tell them that we had important players missing!!!

Anyway good result for the title race. The pyschological impact this second home defeat will have on Burnham is still to be assessed but certainly Stansted win has given everyone a boost and next month or so will tell us more about the ESL title challenge.Unpredictable to say the least...... :290:

Just when a few Burnham people started to appear on here 'larging it' then BANG, a cheeky loss.

Good to see them and B'side drop points, means the table will condense and thats a good thing for the league.

coachy agree with you all the way! i watched the game also, burnhams defence and midfeild was not existant hawkins and lewis got nothin up front either. burnham missing two key players, mark gorbell in centre half due to injury and ross adams through suspenion. burnham 1 up after 15mins, lee cornhill hitting the post if that goes in its a different game after that. stanstead played some great football with bricknell in the main of everything running cornhill about like a puppy dog! few chances either end but in the real world a fair result. i dont know about the score flattered burnham though to be honest.

I don't think that Nathan Sharp and Cornhill are lesser players than Ross Adams and young Marc Gorbell who i know well from having him at SUFC.Stansted missed some great chances to increase the lead and were the better side by miles.Very impressed with them and they have good size in all areas. It should have been more to me :futbolbud2: It all makes for an interesting title race. :champis2:

Someone recently posted that the title was Burnham's to lose and I agree with that still.

I am not convinced that Sawbo, Basildon or Stansted can last the pace to stay in and around the top 4 so I would expect the main challenges ** to come from B'side, BGU and Enfield who seem to have come through there sticky patch. ** I have'nt seen Takeley play yet**

Its a cracking league though, so unpredictable.

So judging by the top half of the table, plus likely suspects, who is eligible or wants to come up?

Burnham Rblrs - Should be okay unless the rules have changed since last season

Sawbridgeworth - No chance, groundwise

Bethnal Green - No chance, groundwise

Stansted - No chance, groundwise

Enfield - Not been to Broxbourne but have heard improvements have been done

Basildon Utd - Unsure whether they can be ar$ed for a return to the Ryman....RICHARD :wtf:

Takeley - Lots of work being done on the ground

Barkingside - Yes/Redbridge

Tiptree - Yes/Maldon

Witham - Would have thought not problems

So once Burnham adopt their usual post-Xmas blow out, it should be the most exciting end to a season since 1991-2.

Witham no probs at all, installed a 3rd turnstyle on the f.a recomendation the season before last so everything should be ok, now for the climb up the league, and to play away every week.
