Damon Searle

YELLOW

Recommended Posts

Just seen on the back of the Echo that former Southend and Cardiff City full back Damon Searle is on trial with us. He can play left back and is a quality player with a thunderous shot on him. Certainly he would be a key player in a 4-4-2 formation.

Also says we are talking to an un named former league man.

I was talking to 'ASHRIMPER' about Searle the other day actually!. He's 30 too isn't he?

I see Kingstonian signed Mark Beard and Stephen Broad.

I've just read the article on the Echo website. This 'un-named ex-League man' could be anyone!!!

yes matt u were!

a quality player searle one of the best left backs around lost his way a bit in the last few games of the season so wignall decided to give him a fee also his wages were quite high too i belive.

hes the one player though that i would not of got rid off. As he scores some class goals especally agianst rushden 2 in 2 years both scorchers! and can score a free kick.

if i was jeff king i would be rushing to sign him rather than signing a CRIPLE!

thats the problem with canvey don't know quality when they see it!

hes far too good for your level and im not just saying that because im a sufc fan.

i think he lives in the area though with his family so wants to stay in southend. he should though be able to get a club in league or conferance especally considering lazy gits like belgrave can.

hes a top bloke too you will be lucky to get him and you will do well if you get him. Thurgood is crap though he reminds me of a "headless chicken" who just runs around doing nothing.

Bloody hell mate! You can talk! I think most of the current Canvey team would walk into Southend's team easily.
I don't think Rob Newman or Dave Webb before him were particularly good in picking up quality players, do you?

No wonder you don't do English at College Alan! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I think Searle is a good player, but unfortunately this would make way for players like Crow to leave.

We have at least three players who are 'too good to play at our level' JK, Minton & Boylan...

Trouble is as we only play three at the back, he'll be used as a centre half not a left-back. I didn't realise Thurgood was still on trial, until I saw the article!

John Kennedy - England International, MotM at Villa Park and firm CIFC fan-favourite.

Jeff Minton played well for Port Vale, (scoring two goals against us). 2002/03 CIFC Supporters' Player of the Year.

Lee Boylan - Irish International, 2001/02 Supporters Player of the Year, 91 goals in two seasons for CIFC. England's top Goalscorer for the past two seasons.

4-4-2 only works best if you have the right players for the formation. Something Southend clearly lack!! <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

You know what I mean LMU...

It could be anyone that has played for a Football League Club and is still playing (decent) football today. <img src="/forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Searley is a nice fella to work with and the younger players at Canvey will learn a lot from him. As for Thurgood he is a hotheaded idiot who has got a big chip on his shoulder and actually thinks he is a good player. He couldnt pass water. Yes he will run about and tackle but he cant even pass the ball more than 5 yards and couldnt trap a bag of cement. And to think he was in the Southend team. Says a lot for the "mighty" blues. Canvey can do better than him. Minton is 100 times the player he is.

southend got rid of their most precious asset about 10 years ago when they put seats in the 'north bank' and then gave it to the away fans.. their terminal decline can be charted from pretty much that moment.. i reckon they will get into the conference before us..!
