I've believed England will win every World Cup I've watched. Like all the others though I suspect we'll bomb out in a blaze of spectacular underachievement!!!

As you all know I am positive person and I think we will win the world cup and finish top of the Zameretto Midland league.

Anyone else find as they get more and more into non-league football they care less and less about the national side? Really doesnt do alot for me if truth be told.

I'm a proud englishman too but do people like Ashley Cole, John Terry and Rio Ferdiand really make your heart swell with pride! I do want england to do well of course but i dont use the England football side to vent my pride! Then again it may have more to do with my general disillusionment of pro-football!

Have to agree Woody - when you see the England players playing for the national team you are always wondering if they are giving 100% in case they get injured and can't then play in the premiership or the champions leauge where all the money is!

 

The same goes for the number of "injuries" that pop up when an England friendly is played - is that the player, the club manager or the agent pulling them out?

 

I find it vulgar that each of the premiership players get paid in a week, what Slough or Windsor survive on for a whole season!

I agree with Woody to an extent, although the players want to win i wonder if they are more interested in showcasing themselves for the big clubs for a massive payday and transfer.

 

I, like many others, will be believing we can win however it is like a pantomime. Who will be the villain this year, (Beckham sent off, Rooney stamp on Ronaldos doo dahs, Gazza tackle and tears etc..) Then you have the clear injustice a la hand of god. then we have the experience of the newspapers buiding us up, writing us off, making us favourites before condemning the whole campaign as poorly organised and destined to failure.

 

But it fills the summer and gives us a great excuse (as if one is needed!!) to get your mates round and get plastered.

 

Don't forget we have the unique opportunity of watching this world cup in 3-D at selected cinemas, wonder if they will have a bar open........?
