Margate v Folkestone 4.12.54

55 years ago today - doesn't time fly when you are having fun.

We beat Folkestone 4-0 with Harry Lee, the most trendy of the Margate players ever (drainpipe trousers and all that), getting two goals and our greatest ever striker Peter Vandepeer getting the other two. Diminutive winger Vince Wright made his debut and we thought we had another Stanley Matthews, even outshining Folkestone's (and later Margate's) Roy Bostock who used to terrorise defences in the Kent League. What a game.

Oh yes, and in front of 6900+ fans at Hartsdown. Thanks Jeff Trice's site for the reminder.
